My name is Lauree (maiden name Babbitt). Reuben Babbitt Jr. is also my great, great grandfather. His son Richard was my grandpa's, David Babbitt, father. I have several photos of Reuben Jr. and Sr.
Reuben Sr. created the Au Sable Riverboat and was a sporting guide. He also served during the Civil War but was discharged after getting typhoid fever. Reuben Jr. was a game warden before there were actual c.o.'s and his wife Jennie (also seen spelled Jeannie) was born in France. I know some of this you said already but didn't want to miss something.
My grandpa had an actual family history book but someone borrowed it and it hasn't been returned and he's not sure who borrowed it in the first place.
For a little history from my side. My grandpa, David Babbitt, married Rosemary Jane Wiltgen who passed away and he then married Alta Almeda Meoak (also widowed). His and Rosemary's children are Deborah (my mother), Brian, Lori, and Jeanette. My siblings are Amber Dawn Plush, Ashley Anne Plush (Vroman), Monica Joy Plush, and Andrew Michael Plush and the only cousins are from my Aunt Lori Babbitt (Kettner) Aimee and David. No biological children from him and Alta.
Grandpa was a road surveyor for the DNR in Grayling and retired here in Escanaba. He had 3 brothers and a sister: Harold, Maurice, Keith, and Shirley of which only he and Shirley are surviving. That's some for now.
