Service for Eugene Babetski, 76, of Macanaqua, will be held Friday morning at 8:30 from the G. Richard Mayo Funeral Home, Berwick, followed at 9, with a Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception BVM Church, Berwick. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Parish cemetery, Briar Creek Township.
Babetski, who died late Monday at Berwick Hospital, was in failing health for several months.
Born in Poland, Sept. 4, 1900, he was the son of the late Zigmund and Alexandria Dublewski Babetski and came to the United States when he was 14 years old. He worked as a lumberjack in the Adirondack Mountains in New York. He later moved to Macanaqua where he resided 44 years and worked as a miner retiring in 1959.
His wife, the former Mary Morris, preceded him in death in 1933. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Mocanaqua.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jean Kmietowicz, of Berwick, with whom he had made his home since October; a son Joseph of Pomeroy, Pa., two brothers, Richard, of New Jersey and Chester, of Glen Lyon; two sisters, Mrs. Anastasia Zielinski, of Dallas, Pa. and Mrs. Alfreda Lesnikowski, of Hesperia, Mich.; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
