Dear Lukas;
Thankyou for your reply. I have always wondered what the countryside was like there. I don't know much about my grandparents as they have long since died. I have been told by other relatives that my grandfather did tell them that it would be almost impossible to do any research on past records such as birth and marriage cert. since the country has had a lot of wars in that area and alot of the church records would of been destroyed. That would of been back in approx. 1960 or 1970.
From what I can figure out from a family tree chart drawn up in 1993 for a family reunion, my grandfathers fathers name was Tom & Tom's brothers and sisters would of been Michael, Nicholas, John, Metro Katherine & Domka. Domka was adopted. Their parents (my gg grandparents) where Matthew & Anna Babiak.
Just so you know we live in Alberta Canada. Please let me know if you find anything else out that may help.
Hoping to hear from you soon.
Regards
Pat Roth
