Babines (1628-1730)

Antoine Babin  (View posts) Posted: 29 Apr 2000 4:45AM GMT
Sorry, unfortunately, the only heritage info I have runs between 1628 and upto about 1780, unlike the 2.3 kids per family we have today, back then they were having 10-13 kids so its been difficult pinpointing so much information outside of the direct lineage for my grandfather. This is were I can start: hope it helps.

Antoine Babine (b:1628), lived in La Chaussee ( a state of Vienne) France, married Marie Mercier (in 1661), and raised 11 children: Marie (1663), Charles (1664), Vincent (1665), Jeanne (1667), Marguerite (1670), Catherine (1672), Anne (1674), Antoine (1676), Madaleine (1678), Francoise (1681) and Jean (1684).

I have no information on Marie, except she married Francois Rimbault.

Charles (b:1664) lived in Grand-pre France before living in Port Royal (the first sign I have of the Acadia movement (maybe?), and married Madeleine Richard. They raised 11 children: Anne (b:1668, M(arried): Clement Benoit of Pisquit), Marguite (b:1690-M:Anthoine Dupuis (somehow related through the Babineau family), Rene (b:1692, M:1714 to Isabelle Gauterot), Joseph (b:1720, M:1745-Marguerite Leblanc), Genevieve (b:1724, M: Amand Hebert), Pierre (b:1694, M: 1714-Madeleine Bourg), Claude (b:1698, M: 1718-Marquerite Dupuis), Jean (b:1700, M: 1721-Marguerite Theriau, Jean was the first deported back to Southhampton England, with all his surviving children in 1756 (he had 9 children), Joseph (b:1702, M:1724-Angeliene Landry, D:1752-Joseph was also deported with all surviving children), Charles (b:1708, M:1729-Anne Melanson-her children, when grown weere deported to Maryland and the re-deported to Virginia (their names were Joseph-Bruno and Marie, this happend sometime around 1733).

My lineage, tracks back through, the second eldest son - Vincent (b:1665), lived in Pisiguit/Windsor NS, Port Royal, M: 1687 to Anne Terriot, children Jean (b:1689, M:1715-Marguerite Bourg (Madeleine's sister? see above), Marie (b:1690 M:?-Francoise Bodard), Marie-Jospehe (b:1692 M:?-Rene Richard), Madeline (b:1698, M:?-Pierre Forest), Anne (b:1700, M:?-Claude Brossard), Marie (b:1706 M:?-Pierre Landry), Cecile (b:1708, M:?-Jean-Baptiste Brossard), Joseph (my lineage connector), (b:1710, M:1730-Anne Marie Landry.

Of the remaining Antoine Babin (b:1628) children: Jeanne (b:1667, M:? Michel Richard), Marguerite (b:1670, M:?-Antoine Brut), Anne (b:1674, M:?-Abraham Doiron), Madeleine (b:1678, M:?-Jean Martin (an Abenaquis Indian), Francoise (b:1681, M:?-Jean Pitre) and finally, Jean (b:1684, M:1706-Marguerite Boudrot).

A lot of information that I hope helps you in your search. Please take into consideration two factors 1) I interpreted most of the information from french, as I got my information from France while visiting, on a honeymooon with my first wife who was researching information on her family - come to find out she was one of the original 7 Arcadia families (as is the Babin family) as well. And 2) the sir names of the spouse could possibly be middle names as their parents sir names were commonly different, divorce wasn't a prevailing practice back then so I can only assume that the names are truly middle names. Got luck!
