Karen - I'm not sure if I can help - but I've been able to track the Maine Babine family back to 1628 through Anthoine Babin who was deported from La Chausse-Vienne France because they were Catholics that disagreed with the King's change in church governing rule (I think it was King Louis who wanted to divorce his wife because she couldn't bare children) - they were deported to Canada. If you need more sorry can give you my best understanding of the Acadia movement. most Babine's in Maine were a result of that - I am from Bath Me father: Stephen, grandfather: Lawrence (had 13 brothers and sisters). email will try to help link and can share information. P.S. The Babines or Babins, were one of the original 7 families to be shipped from France to Nova Scotia.
