My grandfather was Raymond Babineau from Somerville. His sister was Mary Gertrude Babineau (Babino). I know their parents were William and Mary (Vigneau). I'm trying to find more info on William Babineau (My great-grandfater). I know he was from Cape Breton. Do you have his birthday or death date?

i was told that our name is french
i live in the USA and there are 2 types of babineau that i have found spelt two different ways mind you
babineau and babineaux
th extra X is the imagrants from france that migrated into the states from canada mostly found in mississippi and around those parts
as for the others they elected to stay in canada but eventually migrated south into boston and around those parts
so as far as i know thats the history of babineau in america

I had an uncle named Augustus Babineaux who went by the nickname Alcee, he was in the military in 1957, but I'm not certain if he was ever station in Alaska...I can contact his daughter and ask her, btw. he had only one child (that we know of) a daughter named Sheila...

I have a picture of my grandma(Mary Jane Rousseau) with Charlie Babineau (or whom I believe him to be). The picture appears to have been taken in late 1960's or early 70's and Charlie appears to be in mid to late 70's. If you send me your email I will email you a copy of this picture. I found a Charlie in my direst line he was born in 1886, making him in his mid 70's in 1960's. Although he could also be a Jr or from any one this Charlies Brothers there were at least 5 including Charlie and my ggrandfather Fred. Teh problem is Babineaus around here use the same names alot so you get people with the same name and approximate ages just with diffrent parents.

I don't know a charlie off the top of my head but if you had a time frame, dates, age, that sort of thing I can probably come up with something. So far as I've manged to come up with all the Babineaus in WI are directly decendent from Isaac Babineau or possibley one of his brothers.

Thank you for replying. My grandma (Mary Jane Rousseau (Duhaime-Hendrickson-married names)) used to go and visit Charlie Babineau in Ashland, Wi around the 1960's. She told the family that he was her cousin. I'm trying to find the link on how we are related to Charlie. Do you have Charlie or Charles in your family?

All Babineaus in WIsconsin are related in some way. If you want some more info I'd be happy to share what I have with you. I'm a Babineau Maiden name although we use Babino. My ggggrandfather was Isaac Babineau, I'm working on going back from him farther yet.

My great grandfather, John Jonas ROUSSEAU was born May 17, 1875 in Beaver Island, Michigan to Charles & Charlotte Rousseau. I have found 2 maiden surnames for Charlotte (MARTIN & BABINEAU). I don't know which one is correct yet.
John was raised on or near the Red Cliff Reservation in Bayfield County, Wisconsin possibly in an orphanage. Also, my grandmother used to talk about visiting a relative (Charlie BABINEAU) in Bayfield, WI.
If anyone has any information on these families PLEASE contact me. This has been a brick wall for 6 years and I'm very ready for it to fall apart!!!!

I am a Babineau as well but I need a location to know if I'm one of the ones your looking for or not. See teh Babineaus along with thousands of acadians were relocated from Novia Scotia against their will my branch landed in Vermont then Mass and on to WI. I believe The ones in Lousianna came strait from Nova Scotia and the new england states.

I'm not sure about the original origin but so far I've found that it is considered an Acadian name. Thats the Nova Scotia area of New England and Canada. I have been told that Babienau is actually a name created in Acadia no proof just rumor for family that originated from French Daughters married to the native indians Micmacs. The website www.acadian.com has info for sale with the babineau name and a crest as well.

I believe I have your Eileen Babineau buried in Outagamie County cemetary in our Babineau family plot. I would need some estimated birth and death dates or marriage info to know if this is indeed your Eileen. I believe the Name on her headstone is Eileen Babb with husband Willis H. I have a photo of the headstone and the cemetary record/card.

My grandfather was Joseph NMN Babineau, supposedly had relatives from France but was allegedly born in Chediac, New Brunswick Canada,,,I have no other information on him, he only spoke french and refused to become an american citizen. My grandmother was Doreena Francis Manchester who was from New Bedford Massachusetts. SUpposedly his brother was Ed, sister Dora and nephew Midos......I don't know of any others...At one time I think our last name also had an x on the end. My relatives are all deceased and I don't have anything to go on...Thanks so very much

I am interested in finding the relatives of Eileen Babineau. I believe she may have lived in Wisconsin or Indiana around the early 1920's - perhaps even around the turn of the century. I found photos of her first communion that I would like to ID for certain. Ther were found in northern Wisconsin and I believe Babineaus were neighbors or distant relatives of my g grandparents.

I have a Robert Babineau born 1873 in New Brunswick Canada who married a Philemon Duguay born June 9, 1884 New Brunswick Canada, Robert had a brother Frank Babineau,They immigrated to USA (Superior Wisconsin) around 1901. And also married around 1901. They later settled in Grand Marais Minnesota. Robert Died Jan 14, 1948 in Duluth Minnesota and Philemon Died May 24, 1967 In Superior Wisconsin. I think Frank went back to New Brunswick Canada with his family and they still live there. Robert & Philemon are my Great Grandparents.

In response to your question my father was Antoine Alyre, his father was Alfred, his father was Joseph, his father was Dominique and his father was Jean Pierre. Thats were we connect. I have updated my info based on the info you gave but there are a lot of spaces in between.

I still have not found any information about Nicolas's father Joseph from France, but am still looking.

They arrived in Louisiana in 1765 via the West Indies. They settled in the Attakapas District. He bacame the sole progenitor of Louisiana's Babineaux family.

In tracing my family line I came I have come to a dead end with Isidore Leger who marries Gertrude Babineau 23Sept1872 in Grand-Digue, Kent, NB. I am not sure if this is the Isidore I am looking for because his father was born in 1855 but I am still curious about where he fits in the scheme of things. You probably know that the Babineaus are of Acadian origin. After the 1755 deportation they were scattered to Louisiana and in Canada to New Brunswick, Québec and elswhere likely.
