Looking for any info about: Ludwig (or Louis) Babst, b. ca. 1830, and his wife, Elizabeth (maiden name unk) b. ca.1836, immigrated to the U.S. before 1860 from "Bavaria" (1860 & 1870 Census) or "Rheinfoltz", as it is shown in 1880 Census, which is taken to be a misspelling of Rhein-Pfalz(?).
The Babst family is shown as living in the town of Beaver, Pike County, Ohio, for several decades starting some time before 1860. They raised at least 7 children: Mary, the eldest and also my g.grandmother, was born ca. 1857. Mary Babst is not shown in the Babst household in the 1880 Census but in that of John Lobsteni (or Lobstein) and Lena (or Leoni?) Lobstein; this was in Cook County, Illinois, possibly in the town of La Grange, a suburb to the west of Chicago.
At some point, Mary Babst married Frank Shober, originally from Fremont, Lake County, Illinois. My grandmother, Leona Marie Shober (1884-1975), was born to them but raised in La Grange, Illinois, with the Lobstein family as described above.
Anyone having any information about these families please contact me. Thank you!
