Surnames: Arguello Baca Ulibarri
Evarista A. Baca known to most as "Grandma Tita" went to meet the Lord on Saturday, March 3, 2007 at the Lovelace-Sandia Medical Center in Albuquerque surrounded by her loving family. Grandma Tita was born on January 7, 1907 in Lagunita, NM to the late Juan and Teodorita Ulibarri Arguello and recently celebrated her 100th birthday with a grand party held in her honor. Her legacy extends to include a six generation granddaughter. Grandma Tita lived most of her life in the Las Vegas area, where she single handedly raised her six children due to becoming a widow at the young age of 33. For numerous years, she worked at New Mexico Highlands University as a housekeeper, served as a Foster Grandparent, and also served as a child care provider. For the past 18 years, she resided with her daughter, Mella Tapia in Albuquerque who served as her main caretaker and provider. Grandma Tita was a very humble individual. Her riches were her strong belief in God and the value of her family. She was a very devoted Catholic. All who know her can picture her with a rosary and always praying for each and every family member. Grandma Tita will always serve as a constant reminder to all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, etc. Each one will carry their own special memory of her, whether it be her peppermint candies in her pocket, asking for her favorite treat, ice cream, teaching her perfected skills of crochet, embroidery, sewing, knitting, cooking her special calditos, how to use natural remedies, and most important advice and words of wisdom. She attributed her longevity to never drinking alcoholic beverages but drinking plenty of water. She will always and forever be in our hearts, our prayers, and in our memories. She is preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Teodorita Ulibarri Arguello; her husband, Benceslado Baca; brother, Isidro Arguello; sisters: Lucia Trujillo, Predicanda Vigil, Melecia Baca, Anita Castellano, Gertrude Benavidez, Amalia Arguello; sons-in-law, Pete Tapia, and Pete Gonzales; grandsons: Manuel Gonzales, Jimmy Pacheco, and Rudolph Lopez Jr.; as well as numerous nieces. She is survived by her daughters, Erlinda Gonzales of Las Vegas and Mella Tapia of Albuquerque, Mary Pacheco and husband Mauricio of Las Vegas, Rose Fresquez of Los Angeles, CA and a granddaughter, Margie Gonzales of Santa Fe who she raised; sons: Mike Baca and wife Estella of Las Vegas, NM, Ben Baca and wife Eva of Las Cruces, NM; a brother, Estevan Arguello and wife corrina of Denver, CO; 22 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, 34 great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandchild.
