I asked in a previous message about my Great grandmother, Edith Bacci. Since then, I've learned that Edith was raised by her maternal grandmother. It is suspected that she was illegitimate and when her mother wanted to marry a man who wasn't Edith's father, he refused to raise another man's child. Therefore Edith stayed behind with her grandmother.

My question for any of you is twofold:
How do I go about searching for Edith's mother or grandmother's name as we don't have any of that information? And we obviously do not have her father's name. The other question is does anyone know how illegitimacy is handled or was handled in Italy as far as paper work is concerned?
