I believe the Daniel Bachtel you are researching is a direct ancestor of my family. The name Daniel appears over and over through the generations. My own grandfathers name was Daniel Stewart Bachtelle, and he was born somewhere in West Virginia in the late 1880's, and taken to his paternal grandparents as a newborn. There home was in Maryland, not sure where. He died in 1956 of a heart attack, and was buried in Westminster, California. He lived most of his life in Long Beach, CA, and was an oil driller on Signal Hill.
