You can actually have a tree on here for free. The subscription is for being able to look up documents or others family trees.

If you remember you password you should be able to pull up what you had created.

This is great. You can try to add info to this tree. Not sure if you can do it though. Let me know if you can't.

Beto

You are Maria's son? There's oodles missing but we moved in the last six months and the genealogical stuff is still in a box in the garage. I will try to dig it out this weekend. Mom said Bill had been asking about this but I just haven't been able to finish that last little bit of boxes. I actually had a tree on here but my subscription ran out for a while and I guess it goes away when that happens:(

It's cool you are working on this.

Bachus/Backus marriage & obits

I am looking for info about the marriage of Byron BACKUS to Josie/Josephine? (maiden name unknown) probably in or near Attica, NY between 1880 and 1884.

Would also like to find obits for the wife, Josie/Josephine? (Mrs. Byron) BACKUS who died on Nov. 4, 1884 and for Byron's sister, Hattie/Harriet? BACKUS, who died on July 29, 1887.

Byron and Hattie were the only children of my GG Aunt Mary MURPHY BACKUS and James Harvey BACKUS of Attica, NY. I have inherited several small items that belonged to Josephine and to Hattie and I really am interested in knowing what happened to them. There are marked graves for both in Forest Hill Cemetery in Attica with the rest of the BACKUS family. Death certificates say they died in Attica and say that Josie was to be buried in Rochester, NY

Perhaps someone knows if local/area newspapers still exist for these time periods and where I might access them. Any hints you have for me will be much appreciated.

Thanks so much!
Allison
Bloomington, IN

Dear Jason,
Hello, I am your aunt Cherie. I was doing some ancestor research and came across your message. I hope you get this message. I moved to Europe when you were a little baby. I never really got to know my family very well. I guess they never considered me family anyway. I am living back in Texas, Tyler to be precise. At the moment I do not have your fathers address or phone number. Mine is (903) 535-7979. My address is 1031 Powers Dr. I would be glad to hear from you. Your aunt Carla lives in Oklahoma, Norman and the rest all live in Rusk, Texas near your grandmother. Granny Lewis is sick with cancer. At the moment she is doing well. She has been fighting since 1984 (over 20 years). She is a very strong woman. Your daddy is doing well. He is a nurse, is married to Kay and has two daughters with her, Amy (who is graduating in May 27th and Audra the youngest 14 years old or so. I am anxious to hear from you. I will send a copy of this message to your dad. I hope he will respond. We are rather at odds but love of family always comes first. I hope you find what you are looking for. I wish you all the luck and happiness ever. Love you, Aunt Cherie

Retta Gray Wonder if you have found your John A Bachus yet? I have a John A Bachus listed in our family line, but do not have a birthdate for him. However his parents could of been Carol Louis Bachus b 8 Jan 1888 Batesville Ind and his mother Anna L Bradley b 26 June 1889 They were married on 28 April 1914. If you have found him already and this might not be the correct one or if your still looking perhaps this might help? Hope to hear from you.

Tami,
Vinton Co., Ohio is mighty close to Jackson Co. Ohio. Which is where I am looking for Elizabeth Bachus. Elizabeth Died about 6/1825, in, presumeably Jackson, Co. Leaving her new son, Sanford Thorn an orphan at 3 months old. She also had an older son John. She married William Thorn, I do not know when. About 1820 it is thought. Elizabeth was from PA. according to Sanford's 1880 census.William Thorn was from VA & perhaps they were married there, but I am thinking not. William was in Ohio before 1820.

Leah, I desend from the same Bachus line. My ggg grandfather was Charlie Bachus, Henrietta's brother. Their father was John A. Bachus born in 1801 in Tn. But I crash and burn at that point. I think I know who John's parents are but I have no written documentation. I have done a lot of research on this line and would like to compare data.

Hello All,
I never realized there were so many of us!! Anyway, I do not know much about my family lineage. My real father, Ivan Douglas Bachus Jr married my mother Donna Kay Robinson in Dallas TX in 1968. I have not had contact with my father since about age 1 with the exception of once when I was 11. My real father is a Junior, so I am guessing my Grandfather was senior.?. I do also know that I have an Aunt from my father side named Carla. I know it is a long shot, but can anyone assist with determining my father side of the tree? I also heard that I have some half-sisters out there!!!
Henry Bachus of Colorado

Henry Bachus was my husband's ggfather and he came from Germany just before the civil war. He married a Siebke girl in Davenport, Iowa. While in the Civil War he was in Company I, Union Army, and was wounded in the Battle of PidgeonRun near Glorietta, NM. He and his two friends, Stewart (I can't remember right now) settled in Colorado's San Luis Valley on the Conejos River, where they homesteaded. He and his family are buried in Alamosa, Colorado. I don't know who is father was. His pension records say he was born in Schlesswig-Holstein, Denmark. (at that time it was denmark; now it is germany.) He was, by trade, a blacksmith and may have been blacksmithing in the goldfields of Cripple Creek, Colorado, when he joined the Army. Please email me at ncbenson@amigo.net with any information.

He doesn't have too much info on that side of the family, but he is interested and we will get back to you.
From what I understand his Grandfather, Dusten came from West Virginia, and moved to Akron. He passed away several years ago, he had been re-tired for quite some time. His wife was Marie, sons, Charles, Bruce, daughters, Connie, and one other I'm sure of her name but I will find out. Charles and Bruce, (Bruce was the Father of my son-in-law, David) have both passed away also.

Thank you for answering us, and we'll talk to you soon.
Y.
