Seek info about brothers or sisters of Hilka (Helena) Backer, 1835-1908, who in 1856 m. Cassen Peter DeVries (1825-1917) and lived in Peoria, Ill. Cassen was a shoemaker. Believe John Backer of same city was her brother. Hilka had six children (4 sons, 2 daughters), all of whom reached adulthood. Only the girls married. The parents and sons are buried at Lutheran Cemetery, Peoria, Ill. Family lore is that the Backer family also married into the Harms family of Peoria. Would like to hear from someone who might know about this.
