I'm looking for information about Albertus Backer. He was Director-General of Demerara (Guyana) 1789-1793, after it was restored to the Netherlands. His daughter Anna Albertina Backer married James Crawford Neilson, the eldest brother of my GGG grandfather, in Exeter, England in 1809. James Crawford Neilson was born in Donegal, Ireland and settled in Baltimore, as did his mother and siblings. He travelled to the West Indies, England , and other places because he was a merchant. He was lost in the Gulf of Mexico in 1822 and Anna took her 4 children to Belgium to live with her mother until her mother's death, and then she returned to Baltimore.

I am also looking for information about Samuel B. Liot Backer of "Guiana" who is mentioned in the will of Anne Jane Neilson (a sister of James Crawford Neilson who lived in Baltimore) as the husband of her niece Mary Jane.
