My paternal great grandfather, Alejandro Bada, also from Asturias, emigrated to Mexico in the late 1800's and settled in the Port City of Tuxpan, Veracruz. His daughter, Isabel Bada married Wenceslao Urbina-Alvaro in the early 1900's and had children including: Anibal Urbina-Bada, Ariosto Urbina-Bada, Julio Urbina-Bada (my father), Carlos Urbina-Bada, Sylvia Urbina-Bada and Fernando Urbina-Bada. All presently live in Mexico with the exception of Anibal who died and my father who lives in New York City. Good luck!

I read your posting. My family comes from Asturias, Spain and eventually migrated to Mexico through Veracruz. About the origin of the last name Bada is from Asturias, and not muslim. Asturias was one of the few areas of Spain never conquered by Muslims, and actually from Asturias started the defeat of the Muslims with Pelayo, all the way through the south of Spain.

bada roots in chieti

it is my understanding from information given to me from my father, Felice Bada, that our branch of the Bada family had been relatively recent (late 1800's) arrivals to the Abruzzi and came from somewhere "in the north of Italy." I have always been curious about where that might have been. I have suspected that some of the male ancestors might have been mercenaries from another country, fighting along side of Italians during the reunificationof italy. This could be strictly fancy on my part, but the reason that I think that is that my father told me that my relatives "had been bandits" who were fleeing authorities and settled in Fossacesia. I understand that many soldiers were not paid after the war and that they became bandits. My family roots would suggest that.

Hello Ruben Bada! Thank you for responding to my message. I would REALLY appreciate any information that you could give me that could somehow help me further my knowledge of my extended family/my roots. I am a History teacher in the U.S. and this is truly something important for me to figure out- my own family history. Do you also know of an Antonio Bada that has or had a brother and lived in Mexico, possibly near Puebla? Thank you for asking your family members, I'd love to find out as much as I can.

Bada is a little village near Cangues d'onis (Cangas de Onis in spanish), Asturies. So it is posible that our name came from that place. I don't know if it have a muslim origin. In fact, the muslim invasion in Asturies were almost inexistent. It is true that Bada is near Cuadonga (Covadonga in spanish) where is told that Pelayo defeated muslims and the "Reconquest" begun.

Hey my father's side of the family come from Veracruz, Mexico. My great-grandfather came into Mexico at the begining of the century (from Spain). I was told that the Bada origin goes back to the Muslim colonies in Spain. Apparently, our lastname is Arabic (most likely Sirian).

All my family lives in the east coast of Mexico. My granfather's first name was Quintin. Apparently he had a few wives in Mexico. He died during the Mexican Revolution

Hi, I am interested in finding more about C.Bada. I read his/her note on the Bada surname Message board and I wanted to see if we perhaps have some ancestors in common. My greatgrandfather and grandfather are from Asturias. His name was Antonio Bada. My grandfather also had a brother- I don't know his name. I currently have Bada relatives living in Puebla, Mexico. A branch of the Bada family has been living in Puebla for several decades. Please reply if you have any information or think we may have some ancestors in common-please. Thank you!
