Badalamenti/Mannino family in Cinisi

Searching for further information on the Badalamenti & Mannino families from Cinisi. My grandmother, Fara Badalamenti, arrived in New York on 9 April 1913 and disembarked from the Taormina. Along with her were her parents, Antonio Badalamenti and Maria Antonina Mannino as well as her siblings, Carolina, Gesualda, Salvatore & Vito. They settled in Manhattan in the East 80's, and several years later moved to Brooklyn. All the siblings except Gesualda married and remained in the NY area. Gesualda married another Badalamenti, Angelo (who spelled the name without an ''I'' at the end) and moved to Detroit. I'm aware that there are many Mannino family members here in the New Orleans area, but have not had contact with them in my generation. My grandmother, Fara, was known as Fay, and married my grandfather, Joseph Louis Frangipane, who was from Palermo originally.

I am looking for information on Giovanni Badalamente (also know as John Badalamente name was americanized) who immigrated from Polermo Italy in 1921. The family story is that Giovanni/John was the first sibling over, made money and helped bring the rest of the siblings to the US. I would like assistance in identifying all the brothers and sisters, as well as any information about his parents.

In 1925/26 he married a woman named Santina. I don't know her maiden name. They had three children, David (b.1930), Josephine (b.1934), and Daniel (b.1935). They lived in Milwaulkee, MI. I would like to know Santina's maiden name and anything about her family line.

If anyone has information to help me flesh out the details, I would greatly appreciate it. I also John and Santina's social security numbers, but don't know how to use them to find anything but confirmation of death. my email is kathie2@badferret.net if anyone has additional information.

Only 9 years for a response!! I am answering in inquiry you posted to the Badalamenti Message Board on Ancestry in 2002. I had seen your post before but I didn't have enough info to determine whether or not you are related to my wife. I was re-reviewing the Message Board today and saw your post again. You are definitely related to my wife. I will stop here as you may have changed e-mail addresses or are no longer pursuing the Badalamenti's.

Hello Frank,My name is Jared.My mothers side of our family are also Badalamenti from Cinisi.My great grandfathers name was Michele Badalamenti.All i know is the last name of my great grandmother was Di Lucca before she married him.The came to New Orleans Louisiana and then settled in Belle Chasse Louisiana and start a dairy farm.We are most probably cousins.write back if you can .

My name is samantha. Sam and Joshephine Badalamenti where my great grand parent my father john warren said they came into the US from plamero to Ellis Island then to Detroit then later moved to Bay City MI where most of the Warrens live today. From what my father has told me all of the Badalamenti are related.

The Badalamenti relationship is actually with my wife. I am deeply involved with her genealogy as well. There is no question in my mind you and she are related. I am guessing you are the great grandson of Vito. My wife's grandmother, Gaetana, and Vito are brother/sister.

My grandfather was born in Carini Sicily in the 1890s. His name was Philip Badalamenti. He had a cousin in Eastliverpool, Ohio by the name of Philip Balmenti who we used to visit when I was a child. Is this by chance your grandfather? Carini Sicily is a Badalamenti town just west of Palermo. Many of the Badalamentis there are named Vito or Philip.

My maternal granfather was Agostino Badalamenti, he lived in Cinisi and there died on july 2nd 1944 at the age about 80. His parents were Antonio (Nino) and Giulia Randazzo.
My uncle Nino Badalamenti went to Detroit clandestine in the first years of the last century about 16 yo and worked at Ford Company

My Great Uncle was Philip Badalamenti (actually Filippo Badalamenti) born in Carini, Sicily in 1899. His Father's name was Salvatore (Sam) Badalamenti, and his Mother was Giusseppa (more often called Giuseppina) Badalamenti (nee Mattaliano from Palermo, Sicily where they were married). After immigrating to Cleveland, Ohio from Carini, Sicily, and growing up, Uncle Phil shortened his last name to Balmenti and moved to Chester, West Virginia and married Artie Bell, my Great Aunt. Uncle Phil had a brother, Joe (Giuseppe), a sister Faye (Filippa), and a sister Mary (Maria Anna, my Grandmother). Mary Badalamenti married Joseph Sottosanti, my Grandfather. My Mother, Mary Sottosanti, married my Father, Ted Kupiec in Cleveland in 1951. When I was a child, we would all travel to Chester and visit.

Rosalea Badalaenti (b. Montelepre, Sicily ab.1898), my maternal grandmother’s sister, married Frank DeLuca. I think they had 6 children: Fanny, James, Joseph, Anthony, Rose, Mario – all born in the early 1920’s. I think all or most of them lived in Canarsie (Brooklyn, NY) in the 1950’s when I was a kid (1-11 years old). James (Jimmy) moved to Albequerque, NM.

Do you have any of the following in your family tree: Tinervia, Gaglio, Candela?

This is interesting... I just spoke to my grandma who told me that her aunt's name was Artie Bell (Neuch) Balmenti. Artie was married to Phillip. This is all I know. I'm researching the Neuch/Bowers family. I don't suppose that anyone has any information on them?

I was concerned that because your message was posted a couple of years ago you would never see it so I looked up your name on the internet and got a name, address and phone # which showed DeKalb. I called the # to initiate contact and they said you didn't live there. They indicated
it was NIU so I wrote to the Alumni Assoc. and asked them to forward my e-mail to you as I knew they wouldn't pass out yoour e-mail address.

My wife's maternal grandmother's maiden name was Badalamenti and she lived in Cleveland. She also had several brothers and another sister who all lived in Cleveland.

I don't know how far back your info goes but the Badalamenti's who immigrated to the US included Giacomo, Giuseppe, Salvatore and Antonino. Some lived in NYC for a period of time. Are any of these familiar to you?

Salvatore had a son Philip who had 9 children with somewhat similar names you listed. I hope I haven't confused you.

My great great grandmother was Pierina Badalamenti, she married Carlo Conigliaro.They had 4 children; Anthony, Rosario(Richard), Rosaria(Sarah) and Maria who is my great grandmother. They are from the Carini, Palermo area, I believe. Pierina committed suicide,and family came tothe to the U.S.(St. Louis) at the turn of the century.
Pierina also had a brother Stephen who married Dominica Conigliaro,(sister to Carlo) They also came to the U.S. and settled in the St. Louis area. They had two children; Sarah, and Sebastiano.
I am also looking for relatives in Italy, as well as any other relatives in the U.S.

My grandmother was Rosalie Badalamenti, who immigrated to USA around 1903 by way of NYC. Ended up in New Orleans. Married Lucas DiLeo, and they had 6 children, John, Joseph, Carlo, Sylvester, Pauline, and Corine. Rosalie Badalmenti was one of seven children, Michael, Antoinette, Katherine (Katie), Rosy, Frances, Sam (I think), and another. Rosalie's mother was a Cabibi, I think, and she had married Michael Badalamenti. Somewhere in this are DeLucca's. I think I'm getting dizzy.

I came across your message while searching for information on Gabrielle Badalamenti. She is an author of a book entitled: "Come L'Oleandro" and is from Sicily. The book is about the mafia in Sicily. In case you're not aware "Badalamenti" is a notorious mafia family in Sicily.

My husband's aunt Catherine (Tina) Scandaliata married a Sam Badalamenti. He was called Chinky. His father was Angelo and his mother was Sara. He was probably born abt 1918, give or take. He lived for a while with aunt Tina's family. Her father died and her mother was married to Paul Cucchiara at the time. Do any of these names sound familiar to you?
