I am trying to recall how Bertha fit in; if I remember, I'll certainly let you know.

Justin was another brother of Philip and Joseph. They had one sister, Jennie, who lived for many years in NJ, then FL.

I do remember Concetta, but I thought she was on the Badame side, not the Vacanti side......these details are starting to blur, aren't they?

If I may, allow me to jump in, also. I've been in contact with Dennis Badame the past few weeks, and we've made some connections already. (Our grandfathers, Joseph and Phillip were brothers.)

My mom would often talk about the Baideme relatives in West Valley (or was it Westfield?) and I do recall seeing them at weddings or funerals.

What's the best way....a common email? My address is cpgwriter@frontiernet.net.

Hi Chris,
I know the name Bertha and I believe she was the daughter of one of my grandmother's sisters. I believe Salvatore to be my grandfather's father. Our name was originally Badami then changed to Badame. Re Bertha ...my grandmother's maiden name was Vacanti and from what I have been able to piece together her parents were Antoine and Antoinetta Vacanti. My grandmother was Mary (Marie)....but on some papers I found her real name was Marietta. She had several sisters (I remember the names Rosie, Concetta but there were others I think). Back to Philip my grandfather....I believe his first name was Filippo and he arrived in Buffalo when he was 13 yrs old.
His brothers were Justin & Joseph......maybe the Salvatore you mentioned was actually another brother...I am not sure but I do think my Grandfather's father was Salvatore as well. I remember meeting and/or hearing about Bertha but my memory is not clear....but I definitely think there is a connection. I am located in the Buffalo area and would be pleased to share some more on a less public forum such as email. Please use my email and we can explore further....djbadame@roadruner.com. Are you related to Bertha? Our great grandfather was Salvatore Badami who may have been Philip's brother. Let me know and if we are a link then we can proceed from there.

Dennis…Sorry, I couldn't establish a connection between your Buffalo NY “Badame” tribe to my Westfield NY “Baideme” tribe? You didn’t supply any dates with your names, and I’m guessing you descend from these Badame’s.
Peter Badame b. Abt. 1863 Italy and his wife Nicola b. Abt. 1870 Italy.
Philip Badame b. Abt. 1888 Italy and his wife Mary b. Abt. 1893 Italy.
Peter Badame b. Abt. 1910 New York (probably Buffalo, NY)

We are indeed related! Your grandfather was my great Uncle Phil, the brother of my grandfather, Joseph Badame. I remember them often visiting at my grandparents' house on Prospect Avenue.

I also remember quite well S. M. Carmen, who was close with my mother. I've got lots more to fill in, and you probably do, also....what's the best way...this message board or by email?

I wanted to learn about my family history; where the Badame's are from... I know that my great grandparents were from old Sicilia/ Sicily, and that they moved to america in the late 1800's to New York. I dont know much else- maybe we are linked to the Badami's? I dont know!

My family also started out as Badami's, I have no clue about the Badome's- or at least if we had changed our names as well- Most of our family; the Badame's are now living in Wisconsin, Florida, and California...Im in San Francisco, myself. But my grandfather, whom I never got to meet; his name was Santo Badame- I think so! And my grandmother was also from Sicilia- her maiden name was Troglia (sp?). I really wish I knew more, but I just dont- and I know in the 1930's, my Grandpapi also owned alot of slums out in Chicago- and had a bowling ally, etc... They called him Sam O'Brien Badame, the weatherman. I dunno! Do you know about the family way back in Sicilia? Even though I am adopted (Badame isn't my given name,) these people are my family, and I would love to learn about the heritage... Thanks for responding! -Sacha B. :)

We were originally Badame when my grandfather came from Sicily around 1906. He was married to Salvatrice. He died around 1944. My father, had some where along the line changed our last name to Badome. I think my grandmother's maiden name was Arena. I have found many Badame's in California, although I don't know who I'm related to. We are also cousins to the Ventura's and my family grew up in Brooklyn.

I am your cousin from Westfield NY.
Your grandfather Sam was my fathers brother.
I take care of his stone in the cemetery every memorial day.
You like my daughter, will be turning 21 next month happy b-day hope you receive this and write to us.
The Baideme family reunion is labor day weekend here in Westfield everyone in the family is invited to come.

I accidentally came upon your query today as I was "googling" a cousin whose last name is Badame.

Yes, my mothers family's name is Badame, and we are from Buffalo. Joseph (born Guiseppe) was my grandfather, and his wife Anna (born Antonina) was my grandmother. Their kids are the late Peter, Lena (my mom), and Joseph, Jr. (my uncle). Joseph and Anna both came from Vicari, Sicily, emigrated to Chicago, then settled in Buffalo.

Was it you or another poster who inquired about the late Father Phil Badame? He was my mother's cousin, and he still has two living sisters, Ann (S. Mary Carmen Badame, SSJ) and another whose name I forgot.

I have way more information than this....and I'd be happy to share it with you. Hope I haven't replied too late to your query, and that you're still interested.

My mom (Marie Baideme Mackin) passed away earlier this year and I have not been doing anything with the Family Tree most of the year. Do you have a family tree software package and if so is it Family Tree maker or one that will accept Family Tree maker format? If so, I am working on entering all of the data that mom and I and other family members have been gathering and when I have her side of the family as updated as possible I will send you the file if you like. If not, maybe I can scan my info and email it to you.

My last name is Baideme as well. I live in Ft. lauderdale, fla. My father's name is Theodore Baideme and he also lives down here in Ft. Pierce, fla. Thats really cool that someone else out there with my last name =)

David,Thank you for emailing me back re my question.I am originally from Westfield[60 miles west of Buffalo] and my father was Anthony and my mother was Lena. There were two other brothers, Larry and Philip.Their spouses were Sara and Jenny.In Buffalo we had known a Philip and he had two sons and two daughters. One of whom was a priest[deceased].Then there was Justin and he had like six children and his wife was Concetta. There also was a Joseph and he had three children, Joseph Jr.,Lena, and Peter.
I can't wait to see if we have any connection. Our name got changed at sometime, somehow, but it was originally Badame.I have been trying to find out some of our background for some time and altho I am a total novice at the Ancestry game I can hardly believe I heard back from you after such a long time. Please respond to this email to let me know if I am on the right track and if so then we can fill each other in on some of the details of the past and present.

Im happy to announce that my friend Sacha Badame has finally found her entire immediate biological family. She has a sister a brother and both parents ..all found through overhearing her sisters name through an acquaintance at a coffee shop. Congratulations Sacha!! my maiden name was baideme/badame. our family is trying to obtain some info on the wherabouts of the badame clan.Most of the Badames I know are fr the western part of NYstate in the Buffalo area. My grandfathers name was Salvatore. Any info that anyone can give will be greatly appreciated.

Don't have much information from Sicily, but I'm still working on it. My granfather was a carpenter in NYC and his name was Giuseppe Badame came over here, I believe, between 1914 & 1917. My grandmother was Salvatrice Badame and there was a maiden name...Ventura.

My father changed Badame to Badome and my grandmother spelled Badame as Badami...I'm still searching myself. My grandmother's maiden name was Arena and we are also related to Ventura...does any of this help?
