Hello - Not sure if I have located your Badley, but I do have information about Edmund Charles Badley born 1843. He lived in Mississippi and Texas.

This branch of the family frequently used the spelling: Baddley. However the legal name was always Badley.

If you are interested, let me know.

Robin C. Rice BADLEY

Always searching for any information on family names: BADLEY, Rice, GORE, ROBINSON, HANNA, BOBBITT, RIGBY, TAFT, CROSBY, KERN, HARNED, WEBB, WELLS, BOONE, PHILLIPS

We live as long as we are remembered......Old Russian Proverb

Charles "Charlie" Badley

I have lost my great-great grandfather, Charles Badley. I don't know if he died in Mississippi, Texas or on his way to Texas. I have no idea where he is buried.

He married Frances J. Lee on 8 July 1868 in Watervalley, Mississippi. They had three children, Harry, Stephen Richard and Mary Frances "Molly". Frances and the children ended up in Texas.

Stephen Richard Badley married Georgia Baldwin. They both died along with most of their children during the Flu outbreak in 1919 in Weatherford, Texas

Mary Frances "Molly" Badley married William Alexander Coleman in 1888. She died in 1960 in Burleson County, Texas.
She and William had five children.

Any information would truly be appreciated.
Minor Arlando Badley & Laura Johnson Koob

Posting this in hopes of finding someone with knowledge of Minor Arlando BADLEY. Born 4 October 1862 at Sedgewick, Kansas. Son of John Nelson BADLEY and Mary Ann Margaret WELLS. He married Laura JOHNSON 07 November 1888 at Wichita, Kansas. They were the parents of four (4) known children, only two (2) surviving to adulthood:

male BADLEY, name unknown (died young)
Alma BADLEY b. Aug 1893, Kansas
Bessie BADLEY b. Feb 1896, Kansas
? BADLEY, name unknown (died young)

Laura JOHNSON BADLEY is shown in 1915, obtaining a divorce from Minor Arlando BADLEY, in Wichita, Kansas. The children stayed with her.

Minor was last known to be in Roy, Hardin County, New Mexico. He died there: 16 February 1940. He is buried with the correct spelling of BADLEY, however, it is possible that the children's names were spelled BRADLEY, or may have used their mother's maiden name of JOHNSON, or may have used their step-father's name of KOOB.

Anyone with any possible information, please post it here or contact me direct.

Thanks -
Robin Rice BADLEY
BadRobin@aol.com

Always searching for any information on family names: BADLEY, Rice, GORE, ROBINSON, HANNA, BOBBITT, RIGBY, TAFT, CROSBY, KERN, HARNED, WEBB, WELLS, BOONE, PHILLIPS

We live as long as we are remembered......Old Russian Proverb
Here is the passage concerning Zephaniah in The Bicentennial Book of Badleys, by Frances Scott Badley Benes, published 1976.
Obviously, you have more information than this, but I thought it might be of interest to you.
**************
"Zephaniah H. Badley, son of (William) Nelson and Elizabeth Badley, was born 7 July 1838 in Union County, Ohio, and moved to Iowa with his family when a youngster. He probably died in Rosalia, Whitman County, Washington where he was living in 1906.

Zephaniah (sometimes spelled Zephania), was married in Lee County, Iowa on 22 July 1862 to Drusilla Deeds. Drusilla Deeds Badley was born 28 August 1840, one of the 12 children of John and Margaret (Grim) Deeds who emigrated from Pennsylvania to Iowa in 1842.

After his mother's death in 1855, Zeph made his home with his married sister, Christianna Badley Hays, in Denmark, Iowa where he still lived when the 1860 census was taken. He had moved to Augusta, Iowa at the time of his father's death in 1881, and was named as an heir, inheriting land in Des Moines County. It is not known when Zeph and Drusilla Badley went west, nor whether they had children. At the time of Mahala Badley Said's death, the newspaper reported that Zephaniah was living in Rosalia, Washington."

I have this book and would be happy to look up information about Zephaniah's parents, etc. Just let me know.

Sincerely,
Robin Rice Badley

Jack and Ellen Badley

Do you have Jack's actual name? Also, was Badley Ellen's maiden name or her name after she married Jack? There were several Badley families that settled in Idaho. Have you searched the LDS site? Some are listed there. Let me know if you have any further information. Jack's parents would be helpful. I have quite a bit of information about the Badley family. Also, a couple of books concerning the Badley family in America.

I noticed that your name is Orland. I have been searching for a Minor Arlando Badley, born 04 October 1862 at Sedgewick, Kansas and died 16 February 1940 at Roy, Hardin County, New Mexico. He was married to Laura Johnson on 07 November 1888 at Wichita, Kansas. They were the parents of four (4) children, two boys and two girls. The girls were named Alma and Bessie. We do not know about the boys names. Minor Arlando and Laura were divorced 1915 at Wichita, Kansas. He apparently moved to New Mexico around the time of the divorce. Laura and the children were never heard from again. The family has always thought that Laura possibly changed the last name of the children, but no one knows for sure.

Have you ever heard his name? It is interesting that your name is similar. Please, let me know whatever additional information you have. I will be happy to help.

Sincerely,
Robin Rice Badley
http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=badrobin

Always searching for any information on family names: BADLEY, RICE, GORE, ROBINSON, HANNA, BOBBITT, RIGBY, TAFT, CROSBY, KERN, HARNED, WEBB, WELLS, BOONE, PHILLIPS

We live as long as we are remembered......Old Russian Proverb

Elizabeth Whaley/ William Nelson Badley

I have found an old letter with family tree info in it. In this letter, it states that William N. Badley married Elizabeth Whaley, daughter of William E. Whaley. They had the following children:
Simeon Badley
Mahala Badley
William Badley
Christianna Badley
John N. Badley
Zachariah Badley
Zephania Badley
Ezra Badley
Samantha Jane Badley
Diantha Catherine Badley

My personal line follows down from Diantha, but I'm interested in filling in her part of the family tree. Any info would be appreciated!

Rick
Oaknut2@aol.com
