Hi and thank you for replying. I go back to the Allen Baggett and Elizabeth Baker line in Williamson, IL. They had four sons, William, James R., John and Josiah. I come from Josiah. Josiah moved back to TN. James R. moved to Texas, William had a bunch of offsrping there in Union and Jackson counties and John I haven't worked on him yet. But most of those Baggetts are related to me. So whatever you have and can share with me would be much appreciated! He and Lucinda had one daughter Clara G. M. Baggett. And Allen had a son name d James with anther marriage. It is said that James was named after his Baggett Grandfather (James Baggett, Jr.?).

www.baggetthistory.com/home.html

http://baggetthistory.com/uzziel.html

http://baggetthistory.com/history4.html

http://www.drt-inc.org/ancestors/anc-b.htm

http://files.usgwarchives.net/tx/ellis/land/ellis.txt

http://www.waxahachie.com/cemetery/CEMREC.rtf

Hope this helps you adn othrs.
Irishlassy@aol.com

Since you posted this query, have you found out anything about Eliza Mashburn? One of the older Mashburn sons is a possible candidate as the father of my great-grandmother Hattie Finney (born 1869). Her mother may have been Eliza (or Elizabeth) Finney (Hattie went by her mother's maiden name). There is a connection with these Mashburns but is not known if it's a family connection or good friends.

Any info you have found would be greatly appreciated.

FYI on county boundaries -

From 1750 up through 1777 parts of Anson Co NC extended to cover the lower half of present day Robeson Co NC. This was the area southwest of the Drowning Creek [now Lumber River] which extended from presentday Maxton to the South Carolina/North Carolina State Line. All of southwestern Robeson Co NC is included in this area, presentday, Maxton, McDonald, Fairmont, Marietta, etc... Even across the river from downtown Lumberton was in Anson Co NC then.

In 1777 Anson Co NC ceeded this area to Bladen Co NC [became Robeson ten years later in 1787], and also the area west of presentday Maxton, i.e. presentday Richmond and Scotland Counties to created Richmond Co NC. Scotland came about in 1899.

Why is this important to Baggett Research?

In that part of Bladen which became Robeson Co NC, there was a Joseph Baggett and family who lived there from the 1700s. Soooo - your Shadrach Baggett also May have come from the area now known as Robeson Co NC, and may be connected to the early Robeson/Bladen Co NC Baggetts.

Think about it and let me know what you think!

Sam West
Lumberton, Robeson Co NC
sam.west.1@gmail.com
Eli B. Bagget is listed in the 1850 census for Rusk, Rusk Co, TX. He is age 3, living in the Silas Bagget household.

A man of the same name and age appears in the 1880 census for Bell Co, TX. His wife, however, is identified as Mary C. Baggett.

This same Eli B. Baggett seems to be listed in the 1900 census for Crockett Co, TX. His listing says he is married, while the one for Sarah Baggett says she is widowed. Looks like you have some conficting and puzzling information to resolve - but that's also the fun part!
Good luck.

All of these Baggetts are related - all going back to Nicholas Baggett of Bertie Co. Joseph is supposedly the son of Nicholas Baggett, making him the uncle of Shadrack Baggett. This is not my line, so I have not personally done the research, but the Baggett History website provides a lot of source documentation for these lines.

Check out the following Baggett site. Shadrack was the son of Abraham Baggett, grandson of Nicholas Baggett. It may not answer all of your questons, but it should give you some good leads. Good luck.

http://baggetthistory.com/history3.html
Shadrach Baggett, NC

I am looking for information about Shadrach Baggett in North Carolina. I recently found him in some information on the Bladen County (NC) Tax List of 1770: Abram Barnes Esqrs Lists of Taxables for the Year 1770 Bladen County
Headings for this list include: Whites, Molatoes, Black Males, Black
Females, & Total

Page 33
Whites
Shadrach Bagget & Joseph Strickland - 2
Total - 2

Shadrach and his family is also listed on the 1790 Census for Richmond County,North Carolina (Listed as 2-1-3). Richmond County, formerly Anson County, NC was near the County of Bladen. I am trying to find out "Why" Shadrach is listed "Together" with Joseph Strickland and what their connection might have been. It is unknown exactly who this Joseph Strickland's father was but he "May" have come from the Edgecombe Stricklands, but unproven at this point. I am looking for information on who Shadrach (1770 in Bladen County,NC) was, who he married, and where he came from to see if there is some sort of connection with Joseph Strickland. Thank you for any information on Shadrach Baggett and/or Joseph Strickland.
T. Strickland
Thank you so much for your help. I think there IS a connection with this Joseph Strickland back to Edgecombe County where Shadrick Baggett is linked to as well.

I have Now found a Shadrach Baggett listed on the State Census of NC 1784-1787 in Richmond County,NC. Richmond county came from Anson and part of Anson came from Bladen, which is where my previous Post listed This Joseph Strickland and Shadrach Baggett in 1770 Bladen Tax List. I just don't know if this is the "Same" Shadrick Baggett or not??? Joseph Stricklin/Strickland is Also listed on this same Richmond Census too, along with some of the other Stricklands, thought to be connected with the Edgecombe County Stricklands. Jospeh Strickland had wife, Elizabeth and left a Will in 1787 in Robeson County, where many of these same Stricklands are found.
Does anyone have more information about "Who Shadrick Baggett (son of Abraham Baggett) married and Who his children" were???
I would sure appreciate any information in Bladen/Richmond or other counties on Shadrick's wife and children to see IF there is a connection to "This Joseph Strickland" thought to be from Edgecombe later died in Robeson County.
