James Stephenson Bagnall born in Stoke on Trent in 1861 was my Great Grandfather. Can anyone tell me where the Stephenson comes from? I assume it's from a maternal ancestor.

Also can anyone tell me if his grandmother, Anne Heath is the illegitimate daughter of Ann Bagnall and John Heath as follows:
