I do not know if I can help you but I am also trying to trace the BAGWELL and JOINER lines in Union Parish, Louisiana. I do have a Colman BAGWELL, b. abt. 1882. Many of the JOINER and BAGWELL families are buried in Sardis Cemetery and their seems to be a few marriages between these families. Seems these two families came from Alabama. The Colman BAGWELL I have had a sister named Eddie and their mother was E. Catherine/Carrie. Please contact me if you are interested. Carole

H. Bagwell who married William E. Williams, probably GA or AL

This has been a brick wall for years. All we know is that she married about 1835, died sometime before 1860 when William remarried. My old family historian, long dead now, said that she was from Temple, Georgia, which is in Carroll County. Census records all say that she was born in SC. She and William lived in Alabama just across the Georgia state line. The only Bagwell I can find in Carroll County in the right timeframe is a Willis Bagwell, who is too young to be her father, but could be her brother.

There is a deep history between our Williams family [from SC] and some Bagwells, and we can only assume that H. Bagwell is from the same Bagwell family association. Unfortunately, our information is sketchy at best. A bastard bond from one of William's brothers by a Bagwell girl, a different Bagwell child living in a Williams household in Georgia.

We would be grateful if anyone has any information on any of this.

William & Charlie Bagwell in Anderson, SC

I am trying to find info on the parents of my GGrandfather William Benjamin Bagwell. William (born 1875) and his brother Charlie (born 1877) first show up in the 1900 census in Anderson, SC. We do not know their origins.

We know that they were taken in and raised by a Mr. Hall in Anderson, SC. We suspect they were orphaned or given away at some point after their birth.

William married Lucy McGill in late 1899 and lived the rest of his life in Anderson, SC. Charlie Bagwell married Susie A Connor and lived and farmed in various places south of Athens, GA. I have located the death certificates of both William and Charlie but neither one lists any info on their parents.

Thought I would reach out to the greater Bagwell family for help...any assistance would be appreciated!!
Greetings,

I am Kelli Bagwell. My linage is stated in the subject line, if any one is interested. Our side is not talked about much considering my grandfather took his own life in 1978; yet we are still here. I come from the clan here in Wake County, NC.

I am a writer, and I am curretly writing a family book about my 'side'. It will be informal, meant more for my immediate family as a christmas present, but I'll share any information that I run across (or may have already) when I run across it.

Also, if any one is ever interested in the Bagwell Family Cemetery located off of Rock Quarry Road, let me know. I live close by if you need pictures. I'm sure many of you know that the cemetery listings can be found here:

http://www.interment.net/data/us/nc/wake/bagwell/bagwell.htm

The church beside it also has many Bagwell's such as my great grandfather in it.

With best regards,

Kelli Bagwell

I've notice several very old postings for these individuals, all dating to 2000, and was wondering if anyone has ever located the father of these fellows?

My interest is their mother, Nancy Emeline Shoemaker, who later married William J Larison. Additionally George married his 1st cousin, Martha J Shoemaker, daughter of Nancy Emeline's older brother John Shoemaker and Rebecca J Booher.

I've always assumed George W Bagwell, born circa 1823, in Montgomery County, (son of Richard Bagwell and Sarah Hughes) was the father but have nothing to indicate this to be true.

BAGWELL Estate in Ireland - Marlfield, Clonmel, Tipperary

Marlfield, Clonmel
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Marlfield (Irish: Inislounaght), is a village three kilometres west of Clonmel, County Tipperary, Ireland. It replaced an older settlement named Abbey which had developed near the 12th century Cistercian community of Inislounaght. Marlfield developed as an important regional industrial centre using water from a tributary of the river Suir as a source of power. The lake was artificially constructed to run mill machinery, eventually powering hydroelectric current for the 'Big House'. There were several woollen mills near the lake which were superseded by a substantial distillery. This was eventually taken over by Jamesons before it too was closed. It was for many generations the seat of the BAGWELL FAMILY, who owned much of the land and other resources in the area. The terrace of houses and nearby school, which formed the core of the village, were built for these workers.

People associated with Marlfield
John Philip BAGWELL (1874-1946) General manager of the Great Northern Railway (Ireland), MP and Irish Free State Senator.
Richard BAGWELL (1840-1918) Historian and Unionist MP.

Points of local interest
Marlfield House. Burned by anti-Treaty Republicans in 1922 and subsequently rebuilt.

James Bagwell, murderer, 1896, Henderson, TN

The Wyoming Tribune, Cheyenne, Wyoming
Saturday Morning, February 29, 1896

DOUBLE MURDER AT DANCE
Two Men Shot Down by a Jealous Young Rough.

Jackson, Tenn., Feb. 28. – Near Henderson, Tenn., a few miles south of this city, last night, there occurred a most desperate double murder. John E. Butler gave a dance and a large number of his neighbors were present. Young James Bagwell, of a good family, but himself a disreputable character, was present and it is supposed because of jealousy he proceeded to cause a row. He was requested by Henry Bibb to be quiet, and the request brought on hot words, and Bibb was shot by Bagwell and mortally wounded, dying in a few hours. At this point Butler came forward and requested Bagwell to leave, saying that he had already killed a man who meant no harm. This angered Bagwell, and without further provocation he fired upon Butler, killing him instantly. The murderer then mounted his horse and rode away.
Owing to the remoteness of the locality it was some time before the sheriff of the county could be notified, but a posse was organized as soon as he heard of the killing and all of last night and today the country has been searched and tonight a fresh party has gone out. It is almost certain that Bagwell will be caught, and it is understood that there is some probability of a mob interfering should he be brought in. There is also a probability that Bagwell will not be taken alive, as he is known to be one of the most desperate men in the section.
This is not Bagwell’s first crime. For some months he was confined in jail on charge of being a member of a wildcat Whiskey gang of Hardin county, recently broken up by the killing of Ed. Thomas by the revenue officers and the arrest of the leader Gus Thomas, the last of the gang. During the incarceration of Bagwell in this city he made every effort to assassinate Sheriff Brooks of Madison county, and when he was removed back to Henderson a large knife was found in his cell with which he evidently intended to kill his keeper.
At the time of his recent crime he was under indictment for carrying weapons and other acts of violation of the law.

http://pluto.state.wy.us:8080/awweb/main.jsp?flag=browse&amp...

Bagwell DNA project is set up and ready to go

Various members have discussed a Bagwell surname DNA project several times
over the years, but no one ever set it up. So I have volunteered to be the
site administrator so that we can finally get something going for those who
wish to participate. I have no experience setting up fancy web sites, so
ours will be pretty plain for awhile, but at least we will be able to share
our data and connections. I have attended a couple of local meetings of
other DNA project administrators, so I am not totally clueless...just
inexperienced. I hope you will bear with me.

The timing of my decision is that I have been notified that Family Tree DNA,
the most widely used genealogy DNA support group, is temporarily offering a
bonus deal... a free mtDNA test when a y-DNA test is ordered, or reduced
price on just the y-DNA 37 marker test.

Y-DNA12 orders include a FREE mtDNA test (Y-DNA12+mtDNA promotion
price of $99; normally $189)
Y-DNA25 orders include a FREE mtDNA test (Y-DNA25+mtDNA promotion
price of $148; normally $238)
Y-DNA37 orders price REDUCED to $119 (normally $189)
Y-DNA37+mtDNAPlus orders price REDUCED to $189 (normally $339)
Y-DNA67+mtDNAPlus orders price REDUCED to $288 (normally $409)
mtDNAPlus price REDUCED to $149 (normally $189)

This promotion goes into effect immediately and will be available
until August 31st, 11:59PM CST. Alas, only males can test for the y-DNA
Bagwell line, so if you are a female you need to convince a male Bagwell
relative to take the test. But the mtDNA test will follow the maternal
lines.

Many of you already know what all this terminology means. Generally it is
recommended that to get good matches we should get at least the 25 and
preferably the 37 marker test completed. Read more about them at the Family
Tree DNA website: http://www.familytreedna.com/

Here is where our results will be posted:
http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Bagwell

And here is where to sign up and order your testing kit:
https://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.aspx?code=T95192&...

Please, anyone with experience on other surname DNA projects, please comment
and let us all know what we should do to make this a worthwhile project.

For now,
Linda Bagwell
your Bagwell DNA project administrator
linda@bagwellnet.com
