Was Stonewall Charles Bahan a rice dealer or broker in Louisiana in the 1920s? Did one of his daughters marry Alfred Mendoza of Yukon, Oklahoma? I'm doing a little research on Alfred Mendoza and the Yukon Mill and Grain Company and his name came up a couple of times. He was a pretty big wheel in Yukon, and I'm wondering now about a S.C. Charles, who was his father-in-law. Are they the same, that you know of?

I found much more on her family line...

"Madisonville was founded by Jean Baptiste Baham in 1800 as the town of Cocquille or Cokie because of the abundance of shells in the area, at the site of the Native American village of Chiconcte. In 1810 it was renamed in honor of President of the United States James Madison."

Jean Baptiste Baham married Francoise Guillory and had the following Jean Baptiste Baham:

"Jean Baptiste BAHAM had no record of a marriage. He willed his estate to his brother, Joseph although he had a relationship with Marianne RABY, a free woman of color, which produced children.
(1) Josephina Evelina BAHAM, born 18 January 1812, widow living in Livingston Parish, Louisiana in 1862 (baptismal sponsor Clarisa RABY)
(2) Henrieta Emelia BAHAM, born 12 March 1814, if also known as Caroline married Elias DYKES
(3) Juan Bautista BAHAM, 25 February 1816, of Washington Parish, Louisiana in 1862
(4) Pedro (Peter) BAHAM, born 10 October 1818, lived in Texas in 1862
(5) Juana (Anaise) BAHAM, born 24 November 1820, married Robert M. LANIER of St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana
(6) Maria Francisca (Frances) BAHAM, born 10 February 1823., married Benjamin W. LANIER brother of Robert M. LANIER
(7) Antoinio (Raby) BAHAM, born 22 March 1826 probably married an Anna of Calcasieu Parish

Note: Information about children from Sacramental Records and Marianne RABY’S Succession which also mentions Joseph Strong about whom nothing is known except that he was living in Texas at the time of her succession."

Juan Bautista Baham and Sarah Leucy Lindsey were Nancy's parents...

All I know so far...
Searching for anyone with photos of HEADSTONES of JEAN Baptiste Baham (abt 1740), wife Fancoise Guillory prob. in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana. Also LOUIS Jeanbon (abt 1774), and wife Marie Rousseve abt 1785. They were probably in Holton or Holden, Louisiana. JOHN Batiste abt 1846 died in Husser, La. and wife Levinia Wheaten. AMBROS Oscar Baham, wife Elizabeth Daviess, and EMMA Baham abt 1874 married Henry Irvine Holton. ANY OR ALL WOULD BE APPRECIATED. These are grandparents of a friend who recently found his birth family, in Tangipahor Parish. Thanks in advance, Barbara harris_516@yahoo.com

Gus Baham and Mary Lucillia Anthony Researchers

Gus Baham appears to be the half brother of Preston Andrew Baham as found in his obituary below. Most all of Preston's siblings were located in the ss index in the same location as Gus Baham husband of Mary Lucillia Anthony. In the obituary it stated his mother was Elizabeth Pierre and His father Phillip Baham.Making Gus's father Phillip and his mother Unknown.Searching for Elizabeth in the ss index,I located her in Jackson,East Feliciana Parish,Louisiana after finding her burial records in the same location as her son Preston, and stepson Elijah W. Baham, and his second wife Rosetta P...After locating her ss records,I checked for other Baham's in the same area as her.I came up with a Holiday Baham and a Emma Baham.I found buried next to her a Emma Amela Baham in whom I believe is the same as the woman in the ss index. Now as for Holiday Baham.I did a internet search for him and found nothing, until I visited Tangipahoa Parish cemeteries. Then in Bahm Cemetery,I found him listed as being buried there. The day and month of death differ from ss information but the date of birth are the same.I have to wonder if the folks buried in Bahm cemetery are the lost family of Gus Baham...Does anyone have any ideas???

Obituary published in The Advocate (Baton Rouge) on: 11/17/2002 BAHAM, PRESTON ANDREW A resident of Independence, he died Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, at Lallie Kemp Regional Medical Center, Independence.
