Hello I believe that your grandfather was my uncle. I remember my father having a brother Al that lived in the OKC area. I only met him once and that was when he was attending my grandfathers funeral in STL. I remember that he served in the navy in WW2. My father name was John Bahan Jr. I had a uncle Harold that was a marine,an uncle Joe that was in the navy,an uncle Urban, an aunt Margie, aunt Ilean. My father also died in Pinellas County Fla. in 1979.

I am researching my husbands Behen side of the family. The family was from the Kildare Co., Ireland area. Settled in Philadelphia between 1840-1844, then Indiana, Ohio, Illinois and Missouri. My information can be viewed here:

My great grandfather was James Behan (b. 1873). Although in my family research this appears to be the last use of the name Behan as all future lines are recorded as Bahan. My mother was born Margaret Bahan in 1927, the eldest of six children). Her parents were Thomas Bahan (b. 1902) and Anastasia Brennan (b. 1903). My mother's grandfather was James Behan who married Margaret Ann McCabe. I cannot trace any further back to their Irish roots - Can anyone assist me and be prepared to exchange any information?

Ireland to be her father, mother unknown. Patrick's death certificate shows John Bahan b. Ireland to be his father and mother to be 'Unk" Mahan. Can anyone help put these pieces together. Thank you.

My maiden name is Bahan, I was born and raised in OKC, and I never met my paternal grandfather, whose name was Alphonsus James Bahan, originally from St. Louis. He wasn't really talked about much (at least to me) and I know very little about him. I do know his DOB (07/05/1918), when and where he died--1976 in Pinellas County, FL--but aside from that, he's always been one big mystery to me. He and my grandmother divorced--I don't know when; before I was born in 1972--and it's my understanding that he did remarry and have more children. I'd love to find out more about that. I have only seen one picture of him and it was of him in a uniform during WWII. If anyone can help, please let me know. Thanks!

I really hope someone can help me. I am trying to trace any of my father in laws relatives and ancestors. He has not seen or heard of them since he was 15 years old whaen he was dragged from his home. He spent some time in Ukraine before being sent to England where he has stayed ever since. He has no documentation at all, not even a birth certificate. His name is Mychajlo(Michael)Bahan and he was born an 27th March 1926 to Katerina and Mychajlo Bahan. I think he was born in the village of Zadworze in Ukraine (possibly Poland). He had one older brother, Ivan and two older sisters, maria and Anna. I know both of his parents had died before he was 15 years of age and I think his brother may have died too.
Where do I go from here? Are there any documents I can find ie Births, marriages, deaths etc? It is very difficult as I do not speak or read/write ukraine. Are ther any useful Ukraine websites in English ie Ukrainian census? Does anyone have any connections with Bahans in Eastern Europe?

My mothers maiden name is Bahan. Her Grandparents were James Bahan and Margaret Powers Bahan. Not sure of their DOB, but they were married in 1901 in Schenectady, NY. James was a dairyman. They moved to Denver, CO and then eventually to South Gate, CA in 1925. They had 5 children Warren, Jimmy, Peggy, Nellie and Joe.

ok this makes sense Jenny Bahan Kall my great grandmother born on the kitchen table in Verplank NY to James and Rosie Bahan in 1879 ..census shows her as 1 yrs old in 1880. They are Buried in St Patricks old cemetery on the church grounds, in Verplanck ..the rest are at the newer cemetery on Kings ferry road

I have James Bahan born 1854 and his wife Rose born 1855 in Verplanck My gg grand mother Jenny born in Verplanck 1879. But I have James Parents as Mary and Peter Bahan they arrived in boston 1949 & lived in Hempstead NY Peter worked for the Brooklyn Water authority. They had about 6 kids off the top of my head one was James. Are We a Connection? Must be Verplanck isnt that big and in 1800s how many Bahans were in Verplanck

Jared,Kayla,& Jacob. I It reminded me of the friendship we had & how much I loved
you as my friend. It hurts me so much that we are not on speaking terms
anymore. What is even worse is not knowing WHY? All these years I have
tried to fiqure out what I did to upset you so much. Why you hung up
on me when i call? I understand if you don't want to be friends with
someone,but atleast tell that person why.Imagine if you were in my shoes &

Take a look in Ellis Island website. There were about 41 BAHANs that came thru to America and 2 were from Zadworze. You need to register to EI but no money.

St Mary's Orphanage, North Hyde, Middlesex

I also have a relative, Joseph Donovan aged 12 years, who appears in the census of 1891 at the orphanage. His two sisters were in an orphanage in Hackney. Can you elaborate on 'they were treated horribly'? As the institution was run by Jesuit brothers I am not surprised to hear this but I would like to know what life was like and at what age boys moved on - and to where.

I am doing reasearch on my family and I found that my grandfather (Ernest Church) was born in 1916 in Waterllo, NY. He was born to Susan Reinbold out of wedlock and was born as Ernest Eugene Reinbold. There is no father listed on his birth certificate. However my great aunt informs me that she believes the true father to be Ernest Eugene Bahan born abt 10/31/1893. Ernests parents were William H. Bahan and Carrie M. Bahan. Williams parents were Patrick Behan (from Ireland) and Sarah Behan. (notice the name change) If anyone has information on this please forward to me at K9gero@bellsouth.net.

Last year you replied to my post asking about help with tracing my fathers relatives. I'm sorry it's taken a long time but I think that Zadworze could be the place where my father was born. I'm not sure what the next step is. I would like to find any records on any relatives or maybe a birth certificate for my father. Any information about what happened in approx 1941 when my father was taken from his home, would too be great. In other words I am wanting any information I can get my hands on. I have an Uncle that is named John Rick Bahan, my grandfather came from a family of five sons, his name was Francis Marion Bahan, his father was Thomas Bahan and I think he came from Ireland in his twenties.

Tracing my ancestors

I am trying to trace my fathers family. His name is Mychaljo (Michael) Bahan and he was born in Zadwoze, Poland, although he is Ukranian. He was born in 1926 and lived there until he was 15 years old in approx 1941 when he was taken in the night and put in the army. Since then he has not seen or heard of his family and what happened to them during and after the war. Here are some more details:
