Hello Eve, So happy to hear from you.
My grandfather, Andrew Whitson Baigrie, was born 23 April,1850. I know this from family records. Have not been able to find any birth record on him. His mother's name was Agnes Whitson.(Agnes'father was Andrew Whitson,a grocer. I believe They lived in Eskbank.)Andrew married Anne Mason of Ahascragh,County Galway,Ireland. They immigrated to the US by way of Halifax,Nova Scotia,Canada and settled in New Jersey,US about 1873.Andrew had a sister Elizabeth born 31 Dec,1849. She married William H. Simpson and they came to the US about the same time Andrew and Anne came. She died 04 August 1898. His youngest brother,William T.J., was born in Ireland in 1863. (I have no idea what took William and Agnes to Ireland,or just when they went. Probably a job in forestry. I know that Andrew's first job was in forestry,in Ireland.Up until I got William T.J.'s birth record,I had always assumed that William and Agnes always lived in Scotland. I know they were both back in Scotland when they died.)He came to the US some years after the other three. Young William died in the US of TB 05 Jan 1906. He married Jane D. Charles of Scotland. Elizabeth,Catherine,Andrew and William T.J.all lived near each other in East Orange,NJ. (Incidentally,Andrew was a gardener, landscaper, owner of a nursery as well as having been elected to the City Council of East Orange. William T. J. and William Simpson were both gardeners)
I have no record of Andrew's brothers George and James, and yes ,I would be most interested in any info you have on them.
I knew that William died in Loanhead, but didn't realize until now that Loanhead is in Lasswade.
So,how are we related and how are the other people you know in Loanhead related to me? Descendants of George and James, right? Thanks for your input,Dot email@example.com
