Not sure how to work this message board thing - I may already have posted this reply to your 2010 post, but I can't find it! William Bail, b c1764, Dagnall, Bucks (wife Alice) was my 3 X great grandfather. I am descended from his son Jesse, b 1801, Little Gaddesden, Herts (wife Jane Smith), his son Jesse, b 1841, Buckland, Bucks (wife Hannah Lovegrove), and his son William, b 1970, Buckland, Bucks (wife Mary Ann Fulford). My mother was William's daughter, May Alice.

to Theodosa E. Tingler and Alford Irvin Amey
to Charles D. Amigh and Sarah Dilley.

Alford is the brother (which my relationship begins) to Joseph Thomas Amey (married Theodosia Estaline Demoss) to George Lewis Amey and Elizabeth Clendenin to Roy Ellis Amey and Ruby Richards to my dad Charles D. Amey.

I believe that you are referring to Ignatius Bail. I have been researching the Bail family and have recently found additional information. My grandmother was Mabel Rachel Bail Whitby, daughter of John and Hannah Bail. After John's death, Hannah remarried a Dehner (either Charles or William - I can never remember which of them it was until I double-check.)

John Bail was my Great-grandfather and lived in Los Angeles with his wife Lura Delahunt-Bail. He was a schoolteacher and I believe they lived in Az. At some point as well. My grandfather William Bail passed away at the young age of 54, I suspect of type 1 DM. He was a war Veteran but just prior to his call to duty had plans to attend Yale University! He returned from the war to marry his H.S. Sweetheart he had dated since her freshman year. He was already a senior at that time! His widow, my Grandmother, Margaret never remarried and lives in LA with their son and dtr, some grandchildren, and our newest Bail - Brynn Mary, her 1st great-grandchild 7 mos old. John's younger son Uncle Dick, resides in Az is widowed but has several children, g-children and gg-children as well. A family cousin- a Delahunt has done extensive research tracing the family back to predominantly Ireland.

My Ancestor, William Bail, was born in Bucks in 1764 and died in Dagnall, Bucks. in 1849. He married Alice (?). She was born 1766 in Herts and died in 1854 in Dagnall, Bucks. Their children were Alice, John (my ancestor, who died in Dagnall), George, Elizabeth, Jesse, Martha, Job, Joseph and Daniel.

Would be nice if our families connected somehow.

I am interested to know of any Bail's that came to US and when they arrived. I am the oldest daughter of John William Bail born in W. Va, USA in 1932. He is the son Vernon Bail (1905) and Ruth Fischer (1899). I have never met or heard of any other Bail with same spelling. I was told the name is Welsh. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

By chance I found this website. I'm the daughter of Rosco Bail, Bryan and Lenna Bails' son. I didn't think there were so many "Bail" families. When I travel, I always check the phone book, rarely do I see our last name.

My name is Tim Bail and the Bail name is English. the name comes from England as the outer wall of the Casttle is known as the Bail. It has been said that the family went to Germany the to the United States as it was easyer to go that route. I've found information to trace the Bail family back to Peter Baile who was born about 1747 and came to America between 1751 and 1755. Both of his parents died en route, and only he and his sister survived. Unfortunately, we don't know where they came from, though there is speculation that it is either England or Germany. Abraham had Viola, Samuel, Walter, Raleigh, and Dennis who was my grandfather Abraham Bail was born in 1839 died 1905 married Amanda Howett. I am trying to find out if Abraham came to the US or he was born here. From what I have found he was born here and his father was Reuben Bailfrom Somerset, Pa. What confused me is my relatives said Abraham came over here in 1870 but I can't find that information.

Susan - I have been doing some research on a Wm Lehnis who married (I believe) a sister of Alfred Louis Donze and Ernest Donze (both born in France in the mid-1800s and moved to Stark Co., Ohio). I think that Wm Lehnis had a son named Hun who married a woman named Clarisse. Could this be the same as the Hunter Lehnis in your line. Thanks for any info.

George BAIL (bc 1792 Bushey, Herts) married Fanny TEMPLE (bc 1797 Sarratt, Herts) in Bushey in July 1816. Nine known children William 1819 became a cowkeeper in the Edgeware Road (London), George 1822, ANN 1824, Charles 1829, James 1831 became a pork butcher in Marylebone, Fanny 1834, Eliza 1835, John 1836 became a pork butcher in Paddington and Frederic(k) 1841. Both the daughters ANN and Fanny married John Horatio SAMUELS. George BAIL died in 1858. Fanny moved to Westbourne Square, London from where she ran a dairy. She died in 1874. George and Fanny are buried at the Bushey Chapel, Herts. (United Reformed Church).

My Fathers name was Richard Edward Bail. His Father was Edward Bail (Royal Engineers WW2) and Mother was Olive Bail. My Great Grandfather was killed in the Great War (YPRES) and his name was also Edward Bail (LANCASTER FUSILLIERS WW1). I believe he had sisters who moved to the U.S.

Just had to get in touch with a Bail!
My grandmother, Bessie, was a Bail. She came from Dover, but her father, Henry, came from St Albans, Hertfordshire, as did his father, Henry. I have never met any Bail relatives as my grandmother sadly suffered from what we now call post natal depression after my uncle was born (c.1914), was admitted to a mental institution and never left.
Do you have any family history before your Dad? My Dad also died of cancer, almost 5 years ago now, so cannot ask about his Mum, though he was only about 3 when she took ill.
Would be interested to hear any bail history you have.

Yes, you have other Bail's - over here in Australia. My ancestors came from Tring and Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire. John Bail married twice and both wives were named Mary. His first marriage was in 1832 in Hemel Hempstead resulting in 4 children - George, Joseph (my G-Grandfather), Daniel and John William, and his second marriage was in Tring in 1838 also resulting in 4 children - William Henry, Anne Olney, Benjamin and Mary Ann. Would love to know if you are related in some way.

BJ listed some siblings of John Bail. There are some others: Percy, Lizzie Isabell, Bea, and Lula, all of whom lived in or around St. Elmo, Il. Also the name Shelby as a brother is incorrect; his name was Selby. I believe all of these siblings are now deceased. John Bail lived in the west somewhere, possibly in Arizona or California, and he died en route from Texas to his home of a massive heart attack in the 1970's. I don't know of any John Valentine or Henry Bail in this branch of the family. I may have more detailed info on birth and death dates if you're interested.

I wish I had a clue, myself! My earliest ancestor I have been able to find was Thomas Bail who went to the Nicholas Co. area of (W)VA about 1800. That same Thos. was also known as Bailes and Bails. Which is right? I don't know. I have found Bail, Bailes and Bailes spellings for all my family tree, but we have always used Bail. There are all versions of the name in records in VA., MD., and PA. The earliest I found was A Matthew Bale who came over on the ship "Primrose" c. 1635. I check all message boards for any hint of a clue. Sorry.

I'm researching my husband's family. These Bails are from Minnesota by way of Ohio and probably Pennsylvania. Here's what I know, which is sketchy at best. If anyone has any more info I would really appreciate it!
