ORLANDO, FL. – Ira “Ike” C. Baird, formerly of Poland, Ohio went to be with his Lord on Aug. 17, 2012, at the residence of his daughter and son-in-law with his loving family at his side.
Born on Aug. 8, 1933, and raised in Canfield, Ohio he was the son of the late Roy and LaRue Baird.
He was a graduate of Canfield High School and the beloved husband of Barbara L. Baird (Luplow), whom he married on April 12, 1958. Together they raised three children.
Ike was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Army from 1953 to 1957. He worked at National Rubber and then founded and ran Baird Construction until he retired.
He was a long time member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Boardman, Ohio.
Ike had a passion for fishing, never missing any opportunity to fish. He loved traveling to Florida each year and recently retired to Orlando.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Barbara Baird (Luplow); his son, Todd C. Baird (Judy); his twin daughters, Mrs. Amy Hanna (Terry) and Mrs. Jodi Roof (Terry); his sister, Betty Baird; his grandchildren, Todd C. Baird Jr., Logan Hanna (Lindsay), Renee Smail (Matt), Samantha Hanna, Domonique Hanna and Randi Roof; as well as great-grandchildren, Jayce Hanna and Colt Smail.
Ike was preceded in death by his parents.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Samaritan Hospice of Orlando for the kind, compassionate care they provided to both Ike and his family.
