Willam Allgood is my 4th greatgrandfather through his son Presley Allgood, then Charles Allgood, then Samuel Allgood then my grandmother Lillie Allgood. I have been told that my William was not the one married to Sarah Royal but to Susanna Royal. William Henry Allgood married Sarah later than William and Susanna. It is real confusing because I thought that William Henry Allgood was the correct William, but I am not sure anymore.
William and Susanna children were Presley, Lucy, Rebecca, James and Peter and maybe Elizabeth.

William Henry and Sarah Royal Allgood had the following children: Horace Conice, Mary Jane, Royal, Henry Robert, Lettie, and Obedence Allgood.
My daughter and I are doing research on the Baity's my maiden name is Baity. we located Geo and Rebecca grave sites in Xenia, Ill in Sept. 2005. Not sure if they are my GGG grandparents, still checking out information. If you would like a pictures of their grave sites please contact me. Rebecca parents are William Henry Allgood and Suanna(Sarah) Royal originally from Amelia Co. Virginia. Williams parents are possibly John Allgood from Mecklenburg Co. Virginia, wife is Mary Ann ???? Have more info if you need it.

My dad did a DNA test for the BeatyProject about 2 years ago and we are still waiting for someone who knows more than me to match with him. I do know that some work we had has now been disputed because the dna evidence doesnt match. Email me at amygates@bellsouth.net and we can see what we can scratch up.
Amy Baity Gates

It is not a "dumb" question at all. It is not uncommon to find "Jr." used in our 17th and 18th century NC records to indicate the younger of two living male relatives with the same name (perhaps only the same first name). Their use of the word was not as narrow as ours and did not always define relationship.

Kym, I just found your reply nearly a year late. I'll be in touch, P Ferguson is my sister and I must have been logged in on her computer - she doesn't always remember to let me know if a reply comes to her that I need. I have more info on Baity's - back to mid 1600's, name of Estep in NC. Cindy

Baity, Beaty in NC & SC

Here's my GGrandfather Isaac Franklin Beaty's obituary. He is my brick wall that I can't get past. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. I know how the spelling of surnames changes over the years, but in my family I've found three different spellings, Beaty, Beattie and Baity. I am a descendant of Isaac's first marriage to Minnie Henderson. The Bessie Posie listed below is his second wife.
Minnie's obituary and death certificate showed the surname as Baity, as did Isaac's brother Harrison's obituary. If anyone can help with this it would be greatly appreciated.
-----------

ISAAC F. BEATY
Gaffney, SC - Isaac Franklin Beaty, 71, of 1481 Third Avenue died in a Columbia hospital Wednesday afternoon.
Native of Yadkin County, N.C. he had lived most of his life in Gaffney. He was a retired textile worker and a member of Thirteenth Street Baptist Mission.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bessie Posie Beaty; three sons, Willie Beaty of Spartanburg, Roy and John Beaty, both of Gaffney; two daughters, Mrs. Coley Whelchel of Blacksburg, Miss Brenda Beaty of Gaffney; two brothers, Harrison Beaty of Kings Mountain, N.C., Elick Beaty of Lynchburg, Va; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Hi Ann,
It is possible that they're related. Once I can figure out who my g-g-grands are we may be able to figure it all out.

I've sent for my g-grandfather's death certificate hoping it will list his parent's names and I'm impatiently awaiting that. In the meantime I'm going through the census page by page in Yadkin county for all spellings of Baity. I presently have completed the 1860 census for Yadkin and will be posting those on our new family web site next week for others to use. I'm doing the 1900 census now since my g-grand was born in 1882 (personal rant: why did they allow the 1890 census to be destroyed!!). I hope the family still lived in Yadkin in 1900 and I can find them.

If I find anything I'll post it to this list. I've attached a photo of my Great Grandfather Isaac Franklin Beaty.

Pat Webster
http://beaty-cox.org
I've found a chink in one of my brick walls in Cleveland County, NC, my G-Uncle David Harrison Baity. He and his wife Julia Lee are buried there at Mountain Rest Cemetery. They resided in Kings Mountain, NC. I have found them in the 1920 and 1930 census and am presently searching the 1910 census but I think Harrison was still with his parents then. Does anyone know anything about these foks. My greatest hope here is that any information you might provide will reveal more chinks in the wall surrounding my G-G-Grandfather Monroe Baity.

David Harrison Baity 11/1/1892-11/30/1968
Julia Lee Baity 6/11/1884-4/22/1964

There are also two of their sons buried there:
Harley Lawrence Baity 8/5/1920-8/16/1989
James Floyd Baity 7/30/1916-8/29/1990

If you know anything about these people please let me know! It's been a long hard road finding these folks and I feel I'm real close to finding something worthwhile. In advance I'd like to thank you for any help you can provide.

I just read with interest your post saying that you have some 580 Baitys in your tree. I am looking for a distant grandmother who, according to another forum, married my distant grandfather, David Lindsey Ward, about 1768 in Charles County, MD. Her name was Lydia/Lidia Baity, born about 1745. They had children Lavinia, Zeruia, Susanna, Isaac, Rachel, and Elizabeth. They later moved to Rowan County, NC. I am looking for the parents of both David L. Ward and Lydia Baity. Would you have them on your list? I have not been able to contact the person who made the post in the other forum. Thank you very much. Bill E. Miller
