Mary Elliott Bake, 87, of Fayette City, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006, in Havencrest Nursing Center, Carroll Township. She was born June 9, 1919, on the family farm in Gillespie, Washington Township, a daughter of the late Heisey and the late Maud Crombie Elliott. Mary taught elementary school for more than 30 years in Fayette County. She was a fourth-grade teacher at Marion Elementary School in the Belle Vernon School District for most of her career. Her students remember her fondly for her plays, music, and French instruction. She was an active member of the Little Redstone Presbyterian Church in Jefferson Township. She served as a deaconess for many years and was a respected member of the congregation. Surviving are four sisters, Catherine Sethman, Betty Gardner, Maud Ridgway and Dorothy Waddington; four nieces, Nancy Brazzon, Rebecca Ridgway, Suzette Waddington and Sally Goodboy; and four nephews, Heisey Gardner, Willis "Bub" Gardner, Richard Ridgway and Robert Scholl. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Bake. A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, in the Little Redstone Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Karen Willis officiating. The ELEY/McCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC., Fayette City, handled the arrangements.
This person is not one that I am researching. The obit is from one of the papers in the Pittsburgh area. Perhaps someone will be able to get some info from it.
