Bake Family of Dacre, Yorkshire, Eng to Westmoreland Co., PA

I am direct descendant of Gilbert (b.1772) and Jane Myers(b.1773) Bake of Dacre, though their son William (b. 1805) and Sarah Bake, through their son Gilbert (b.1833) and Susannah Gilmore Bake. Gilbert Sr. family came to PA. in 1831 with 4 sons; daughter Jane Bake Addyman (b. 1802, m. John Addyman, 2 sons, 1dau) stayed behind in Dacre York.
I have put the will of Gilbert Sr.(d. PA c.1849) in a Word Document which I'm happy to share. Also I have visted Dacre and the church where they were members (have never seen reference to it being Quaker, just "Independent" in all the church records) and where daughter Jane B. Addyman and her family are buried.
After father Gilbert died c.1849, one son (Gilbert Bake b. 1799)) went to Ohio; Joseph M.(b. 1815) and Rebecca Sampson Bake ( 8 children) were in Niagara, Ontario in 1881 Canadian Census; Mother Jane Myers Bake lived with William and Sarah Bake in 1850 Rostraver Twp, Westmrld Co., PA. census and died before 1860 census. Son John Bake (b. 1807) may never have married and lived with William's family, both died in Pa. I know very little about the 11 children of William and Sarah, except for my great grandfather Gilbert whose Family Bible I have.
Happy to share any info I have and happy to receive what I don't yet have!

I am hoping to connect with someone who is working on the Bake Family from Manchester, England. John Bake was b abt 1795 and was married to Elizabeth Needham.

John Bake must have came to the US some time in the 1830's or 1840's. He went out at west at some point and was never heard of again.

I only know of one child, Henry Needham Bake who was born in Bollington, Cheshire, England 1826. He married Sarah Mathias abt 1850/51. They lived in the Pittsburg area for a while.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Leslie
Fayette County
Bake, Mary
Fayette City

Mary Elliott Bake, 87, of Fayette City, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006, in Havencrest Nursing Center, Carroll Township. She was born June 9, 1919, on the family farm in Gillespie, Washington Township, a daughter of the late Heisey and the late Maud Crombie Elliott. Mary taught elementary school for more than 30 years in Fayette County. She was a fourth-grade teacher at Marion Elementary School in the Belle Vernon School District for most of her career. Her students remember her fondly for her plays, music, and French instruction. She was an active member of the Little Redstone Presbyterian Church in Jefferson Township. She served as a deaconess for many years and was a respected member of the congregation. Surviving are four sisters, Catherine Sethman, Betty Gardner, Maud Ridgway and Dorothy Waddington; four nieces, Nancy Brazzon, Rebecca Ridgway, Suzette Waddington and Sally Goodboy; and four nephews, Heisey Gardner, Willis "Bub" Gardner, Richard Ridgway and Robert Scholl. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Bake. A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, in the Little Redstone Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Karen Willis officiating. The ELEY/McCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC., Fayette City, handled the arrangements.

This person is not one that I am researching. The obit is from one of the papers in the Pittsburgh area. Perhaps someone will be able to get some info from it.

Bake-Bergen ancestors

My ggrandmother was Mary Hannah Bergen (born 1853) who married Francis Walter Hugh Bake - born 1859 - (not sure if that was in Australia as I can't find a record for this marriage in Australia). They lived at Hill End, New South Wales, Australia and had children - Walter, Mary Alice, Ernest, William, Christina and Augusta. I am told that Francis' father was a sailor from Scotland, who came to Australia at one time with a load of silk from China. Maybe he liked it so much he talked about it back home and his son decided to settle here. Christina married my grandfather, Harold Olman Mackney at Coff's Harbour in 1914. Can someone help me with any information on my ancestors along this line?
:-> Cynthia

I would like to correspond with anyone researching Martha (nee MOORHOUSE) BAKE and her descendants. Martha was born in 1795 or 1796 near Hampsthwaite, Yorkshire, England, the daughter of Martha (MORRELL) and Samuel MOORHOUSE. She married Nathan BAKE 1 February 1813 at Ripley parish church. They lived at Hartwith with Winsley and Darley and had at least 9 children: William, Nathan, Samuel, John, Christiana, Susannah (who married William ABBOTT), Ellen (who married James SUTCLIFFE), Mary and Ann. The twins Nathan and Samuel were baptized at the Roman Catholic chapel at Nidd Hall in 1820. Five children were baptized at St. Jospeh's Roman Catholic Chapel at Bishop Thornton near Ripon. Martha died in 1846 in Hartwith parish. I do not know where she was buried.
