Hello
I had scroll done recently for the surname Bald and there is a German connection as well as a Scottish connection. If anyone is interested then I can write down the details from this family shield/name history for both the Scottish and German scroll.
I don't see a match with the Bald's, I do have a site on Ancestry.com you can go to and look around. You didn't put the grandmothers first name down, but you can look there at the Rintouls. Best way to get in: go to www.rootsweb.com in the search area type in Helen Simpson Rintoul (my grandmother) scroll down to world tree and click on my Grandmothers name it will take you to my site. I don't have a lot of Rintoul's, I have had a hard time finding them. Let me know how you make out and if you have a match with Rintoul
Thanks for writing,
Marge

Hi Karolyn

sorry it's taken so long to reply to your message.........it has taken this long to get the information from my dad !
Anyhow, it doesn't appear that my family have any connections to the Balds that you mention. Sorry :(
The only informationn I found out was that my dad's parents were called Edwin Venman Bald (d.o.b 17 April 1904) and Annie Isobella Aurd (d.o.b 7 April 1904) and they were married in Blythe Congregational Church. Apparently my grandfathers dad was called William Bald who was a baker, my grandmother's dad was called Edward Aurd who was a butcher.
My dad seems to think that there was a connection with Scotland but couldn't provide anymore information.

Good luck with tracing your family tree.

Ali
I'm originally from Dunbar, East Lothian, Scotland.

My father is also called John Bald and I have two brothers and one sister. Robert Bald, Andrew Bald and Sarah Bald. My wife has taken my name and is called Susan Bald.

Dozens of Balds in the Edinburgh and East Lothian phone book. Very unusual spelling of the name in Scotland as BAULD is far more common.

My father originally hailed from North Berwick, East Lothian and is an only child. My gran (my father's mother) is called Sarah Bald and is still alive and lives in East Linton, East Lothian five miles from Dunbar. Her family name was Geggie but obviously the family name came from her late husband - my granddad. Didn't know too much about him apart from the fact that he was a member of the Free Church of Scotland (ultra presbyterian).

Dunbar, my hometown for your information, is a lovely seaside town 30 miles east of Edinburgh and my family are extremely well known.

It is the birthplace of John Muir who went on to found the national parks in America after he emigrated.

Please feel free to e-mail me at john-bald@blueyonder.co.uk

Best wishes from Edinburgh

JOHN BALD

Hi Justine,

From what I have found and heard most of my family is German. I have learned that Bald means "soon" in German. But I have seen many Bald's in Great Britian (particularily in Scotland, Australia and New Zealand.

Do you know anything about your Bald's? Maybe we are related! :) Most of my family is in Wisconsin but I have heard of other Balds in California, Arizona, Nebraska and Pennsylvania. More connections would be great!

Bald/Busacker Marriage

Paula; My gg grandmother's name was Anna Busacker. Her daughter, Minnie, married Christian Kalhke/Kaelke in Germany. When they came to America in 1865, Minnie and Christian came from a town names Muir/Moir/Moore, Germany that was about 40 miles from Hamburg on the Elbe River. After arriving they settled in Brighton, Macoupin County, IL. I have found a Lewis Busacker in ST. Clair County, but have not been able to find anyone connected with Lewis. Lewis married and had a son Lewis, but that is all I know. Anna Busacker is buried in MO next to her daughter and son-in-law, and their is no record of who Anna's husband was. Are any of these names familiar with you? Sure hope you can help. You can e-mail direct, if you wish at: cactsrse@earthlink.net

Thank YOu.

I have an ancestor John Bald, born in Scotland I guess about 1825. He married Marjorie Wylie and one of their sons was Claude Wylie Bald born 1853 in Glasgow. Claude married Margaret Ker (also of Glasgow) and went to India and had several children, among them by great-grand-mother Margaret born 1888 (later who married Fred Marsh) and a son also named Claude who was known as 'Wylie' Bald.

Does any of this ring bells?

Cheers from Australia!

Leon Lyell
We are also researching our family tree. We know that our Bald family (Thomas Bald) came from Scotland to Welland, Thorold Township, Ontario, Canada in 1794. His son from which we descended was William Archibald Bald, born 1826. His son, James Thomas Augustus Bald, born Aug 25, 1859. He married Sarah Frances McDonough on Sept. 17, 1886. Thomas Bald was listed in the Thorold Township Census of 1828. William Archibald Bald was listed in the 1861 Census of Welland, Ontario, Canada. Could we be related? Do you have information to share? Thank you.
