Andrew Balder & Mary E, Erhardt from Germany to Ohio in the 1850's

I am looking for descendants of Andrew Balder (b. abt. 1803) & Mary or Maria E. Erhardt that came from Germany to the US in the 1850's. Their known children are Catharine, John, Philip, Andrew, Margaret & Elizabeth Balder all born in Germany. I believe they had a son named Frederick also but at this time I cannot make a connection to him but this name was passed down from all children.
Andrew is in the 1860 Tuscarawas Co., Ohio census & living w/ him is Andrew & Catharine. I presume the mother, Mary E., has died. Philip & wife (Catharine Dougherty) are living next door & living w/ them is a Maria E, infant 7 mos. old. It has her name has Balder but she is living w/ them in the 1870 census also as Mary E. Schafer, 10 yrs. old. This is a daughter of John Schafer (also spelled Shaffer or Schaffer) & Elizabeth Balder. The elder Andrew is gone in 1870.

The 1900 census states when they came to the US:

BALDER, John came to the U.S. in 1852, born May 1832, 68 yrs. old, living in Coshocton Co., OH in 1900.
BALDER, Phillip came to the U.S. in 1853, born Dec 1834, 66 yrs. old, living in Owen Co., IN in 1900.
BALDER, Andrew came to the U.S. in 1855, born Jun 1841, 59 yrs. old, living in Owen Co., IN IN 1900.
BALDER, Catharine came to U.S. in 1849 born Oct 1842, 57 yrs. Old, living in Holmes Co., OH IN 1900.
BALDER, Margaret came to the U.S. in 1853, born Oct 1847, 54 yrs. old, living in Owen Co., IN IN 1900.

I can't find Elizabeth (Balder) Shaffer in the 1900 census. Catharine Balder looks to be the first to come to the US. I found her in the 1850 census living in Whitley Co., IN with a Jacob & Saesa Balder. My resources for searching is limited. But there is an Andrew Balder listed in the Passenger and Immigration Lists Index, 1500s-1900s @ Ancestry.com, his destination is Ohio but I cannot get details, not a member.
I hope someone researching can connect to this Balder family. Thank you, Carla

It is possible that he is a brother of my ggg grandfather John Rufenacht who was born in 1832 in Germany but moved to the US with family in 1835 - ending up in Tusc. Co, Ohio. Thanks

I am told that Margaret had a sister named Catherine and I suspect your ggggrandmother is her. Catherine and Margaret had brothers named John(Johan) and Andrew. There are probably more siblings but, we don't know who they are.
John Balder's naturalization papers of September 27, 1858 state that he renounces all allegiance and fidelity to the King of Rinebergen. John Balder's family bible states that John was born May 25, 1832 in Rhine Bavaria Germany Bistersheid Rhine Phalz. This info was sent to me by a lady who is John Balder's granddaughter.
That is all I have right now. I am still searching and if I find anything I will let you know. I hope you do the same.
Thanks for replying. I,m glad to hear from you.
Carla
Catharine Balder

Hello again,
Somebody submitted a record on your Catherine Balder at the FamilySearch (LDS) site. It states that Catherine was born 5 Nov 1823 in New Philadelphia, Tuscarawas Co., Oh. She died 5 Jun 1913 in Walnut Creek, Holmes Co., Oh. Catherine married John RUEFENACHT, 4 Oct 1862 in New Philadelphia, Tuscarawas Co., Oh. They didn't mention who the parents were.
I'm sure you have this record. Now I know that Catherine couldn't be a sister to my great-great-grandmother, Margaret Balder (Harris). Margaret and her siblings, that I know of, were born in Bavaria. Philip Balder was born about 1834, John about 1837 and Margaret about 1847. There are others too. This was a large family of Balder's that came from Bavaria in Germany. I think your Catherine must have been a cousin to my 2nd great-grandmother. I think Catherine was a descendant of another part of the Balder family who came from Germany to America prior to my Balders. These Balders are connected but, I don't know how.
Anyway, I just thought I would tell you what I found. Have you found anything on Catherine or anything to help figure the Balders out?
Thanks,
Carla
charris@texas.net
