More commonly referred to as the Bracero Program was a temporary guest worker program. The agreement provided much needed manual labor for the United States and provided jobs for many Mexican nationals. The program ran from 1942 thru 1964. The program was first iniated in 1942 as a result of labor stortages in the United States due to World War II.
