Hector Balderrama passed away August 7, 2010 with his wife Maria and four children at his side after a sudden illness.
Hector was born July 16, 1949 in Chihuahua, Mexico. In 1969 he married his soul mate, Maria Torres. They were married for 41 years and together raised four children in Oxnard where they lived for 38 years. Hector was a hard-working and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Hector worked for Chase Bros. Dairy where he developed lifelong friendships. He retired from the dairy after 32 years.
After retiring, Hector and Maria moved to Homeland, Calif., where they resided for the past eight years. In Homeland they created special memories at their Rancho Chijal. This Rancho was created by Hector and Maria from the ground up, and it is a testament to his creativity and skill. Everything you see and touch at the Rancho is a reflection of the dedication and love he had to unite and gather his family. Rancho Chijal has always been a place where family and friends were welcome to enjoy Hector's world famous carne asada tacos and good times. All the work he put into creating Rancho Chijal will live on as a legacy for his children and grandchildren.
Hector always enjoyed entertaining family and friends by playing his guitar and singing mariachi music. He also enjoyed traveling, camping, restoring old cars, gardening, and his ability to salvage and re-purpose ordinary items into something extraordinary. Hector's greatest passion was spending time with his grandchildren. Hector had a heart of gold. His family and music were his world. We will greatly miss his beautiful smile, his laugh, and his passion for life. We are all blessed to have spent time on earth with him. Our lives will not be the same without him.
Hector is survived by his wife, Maria (Gorda); daughters, Laura Balderrama (Jason), Imelda Clemons (Kasha), Lourdes Balderrama (Maudie); and son, Nacho Balderrama (Lisa). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren: Louie, Jailen, Nicolas, Sarina, Adriana, Ali, Zacary, Jacob, Kayla, Matthew, Maury, Moses, Nachito. He had many nieces and nephews. Hector is also survived by his mother, Estela Rivero Balderrama; his brothers, Manuel, Jesus and Carmelo; and sisters, Carmen and Gloria.
