Emily Jane Baldock m. Edward Saunders, Brentford 1916

I wonder if anyone would have further information on this couple. Emily Jane b. 1895 was the daughter of Horace James Baldock and had one brother, Henry James, who emigrated to Canada. I believe Edward/Emily had at least one son James E. Saunders born 1920 in Brentford. I know nothing else of this couple and am hoping that someone can help.

I am Carl Pifher Son of Ava Baldock Pifher, I did Know Herb Riley, when I was born your Dad had already left Baker City so I did not know that he and his Brother existed, Rachel was a little older than I, I do have a picture of Herb, Ethel and Rachel, with my family, herb was a great person, he took me to the Pendleton Round up once and we stayed with my Aunt Ada. He worked at the city dump for years, he drove an old hand crank green pickup,I think it was a Ford a 1912 or 15, the thing would not do over 15 miles an hour, he was the only one in town with something like that so you always knew who it was. Ethel was a religious person and would not allow smoking or drinking in her house, he would stash his bottles around and if she found them she would pour them out, so a lot of times when he wanted to smoke his cigars and have a belt or two he would come to our house, he was always welcome there. He would bring us kids candy from the dump that some store had throwed out but was not opened, us kids never complained candy was hard to come by.
I was quite suprised a month or so ago after your Dad died, my wife was reading the obit's in the Idaho Statesman and their was a person named Ray Riley, and she asked me if I was related to Rileys, after thinking about it I figured out it was my Mom's cousin.

Walter Baldock/Low Walter Baldock from Lincolnshire

Looking for information about Walter Baldock born 1776 in Lincolnshire, England. His son, Low Walter Baldock was born in 1812 in Lincolnshire. Low Walter Baldock came over to Ontario, Canada in 1835 and married Sarah Darby in 1846. Walter Baldock came over to visit his son, stayed in Ontario, Canada, and died in Ontario in 1853. Apparently another son came over to Canada but he died on his way over in a shipwreck. I am looking for more information about Walter and Low Walter in Lincolnshire, for instance other family members, wife and parents of Walter, etc. Any info would be appreciated!

Hi, Thanks for your post. I've had a quick look at your weblink which was very interesting. I will need to have a closer look later. I wish I had more info on my Ann's ancestry. You are welcome to see my Pratt tree on Ancestry. My Ann was born circa 1807, probably Lincolnshire, was convicted for stealing and sent to Tasmania where she married and settled. She died in 1846, not longer after giving birth to an unnamed child.
Merry Christmas. Rosemary

Hi guys
The general concensus I believe is that BALDOCK originated from the place in Hertfordshire, founded by the Knights Templar in 1198, then called Baldac, old english for 'Baghdad', presumably where they had been crusading.
I believe however, that most BALDOCKs moved away such that there are now few in Herts; they are mainly in Kent and Sussex, with some in Lincolnshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. There were of course migrations to the USA, Canada and Australia (some involuntarily!)
I would certainly be interested in the pedigrees of you guys. My line is mainly Kent, with a male line back to late 1500s, with some digressions into Sussex. I am researching at least 5 lines.

Check out my blog, and get in touch!!

Steve Baldock
B.Sc.(Hons)(Eng)
contact@baldockfaggfamily.org.uk
http://baldockfaggfamily.org.uk
Facebook: baldockfaggfamily
Twitter: @baldockfaggfam
Norfolk FHS # 12782
Kent FHS # 12869

Hi, I' researching William Baldock and Mary Litherland. Both married West Bridgeford 1796. I am trying to confirm that they had a daughter Ann born in Lincolnshire 1807. Other children born were John and William 1799 (twins?), Joseph 1803.At some stage William and Mary must have moved to Lincolnshire as both William and Mary died there too.
I cannot find any proof of Ann's ancestry. She was my gg grandmother, transported to Tasmania in 1833. I'm coming to Nottingham in August to do some family research. Any advice or help with these names?

Hi Nat, look us up if you come to the UK, you have my email address (jonathan.baldock@primaryplus-online.co.uk), I'm also on Facebook. My brother first settled in Forbes in 1975 and ended up in Parkes before he unfortunetly died in a road crash in Ox in 1980. His memory lives on though and we are seeing the remaining family in Temora in 3 weeks time.

Incidently, the name Baldock dates back to the year 1200 in the UK and it original was spelt as Baldoc and was made famous by an Earle De Baldocke around 1400-ish. There is a town called Baldock in Hertfordshire in England too.

Hi,
I believe the Baldocks in my family tree immigrated in 1839. Thomas Baldock (1811-1879) came out on the Prince Regent from Sussex with his wife and the three children they had at that stage. He is my great great great grandfather. Most of the Baldocks in my family tree lived in the Tamworth area and have only in the past couple of generations spread out more. I have seen some Baldocks in South Australia and Western Australia in early records and I was wondering if they were related to my Thomas Baldock but there could have obviously been multiple early immigrations.

Is Baldock a common name in England? I know it is/was the name of an area.

I had to look up where Temora was! I guess Baldocks like fairly remote areas. I would love to visit England and investigate family history whilst there. I am saving up for a trip in 2013 when my youngest starts school. I hope you have a good holiday and our weather behaves for you.

Nat.
My brother David Baldock emigrated to NSW (Forbes)in 1975. He was from Nottingham in England which is where I still live. David married a NSW girl called Jenny Coombes who lives in Temora. They had 2 children who also still live in Temora and I know that one of them is very interested in his original Baldock ancestry. Incidently, I am coming to NSW in 2 weeks time.

Hi
Was this Eastry District, or actually Eastry itself?
You may be related to me, but without more details I cannot yet advise. I do have three Charlottes - one I can rule out (my great-great aunt born 1867), a second one in another line I'm researching was not born until 1886. That leaves one from another line who was born in Pluckley, Kent in 1841 and was still unmarried at the 1871 census, living at home with her widowed mother. I have nothing yet beyond this. Yet Eastry does at face value seem a little out of her area - but then again maybe she came across to join other BALDOCK clan!!
Please take a look at my blog and contact me directly at the address below.

Hope to speak soon.

Steve Baldock
B.Sc.(Hons)(Eng)
contact@baldockfaggfamily.org.uk
http://baldockfaggfamily.org.uk
http://www.facebook.com/baldockfaggfamily
http://twitter.com/baldockfaggfam

Jill

The details I have on the immediate family are as below. I am not related to Robert BALDOCK but have common ancestry with Ellen Frances through her grandmother Mary Ann BOOTY.

Ellen Frances (Eliza) WATERTON, born Sep. Qr. 1873 in Bromley. 1881: aged 7, scholar, with parents.

She married Mar. Qr. 1891, Bromley (2a 593), Robert BALDOCK. He was born about 1868 in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. 1901: aged 33, general labourer, 2a Blanmerle Terrace, Eltham [RG13/544, 33]. 1914: of 76 Lannoy Road, New Eltham. Their children were:

i.	Kate BALDOCK, born about 1892, Bromley. 1901: aged 9, with parents. Perhaps she was the Kathleen BALDOCK, born Mar Qr. 1892, Faversham Dist.
ii.	William Robert H. BALDOCK, born Mar Qr. 1893, Bromley (2a 452). 1901: aged 8, with parents. Stoker, 1st Class, HMS Pathfinder, Service No. K/14609, died 5 Sep 1914, aged 21, commemorated on the Chatham Naval Memorial. HMS Pathfinder was sunk 5 Sep 1914 by the German submarine U 21. “The only one of the four similar Scout classes to be sunk which was mainly owing to the types poor endurance. She was so short of coal whilst on patrol that she could only manage a speed of 5 knots making her an easy target for the German submarine U 21 and giving her the distinction of being the first warship sunk by submarine attack.”
“HMS Pathfinder (was) patrolling the Scottish North Sea Coast. A single bow torpedo fired at a range of 1600 yards pierced the cruiser's flank, puncturing and igniting a boiler. This in turn sprayed red-hot shrapnel through the bulkhead into the ship's magazine. The resultant explosion sank HMS Pathfinder within four minutes, only 11 of her crew surviving. This was the second ship ever sunk by a submarine, and the first in which the attacking submarine successfully escaped”.
iii.	Arthur Ernest G. BALDOCK, born Mar Qr. 1895, Bromley (2a 432). 1901: aged 6, with parents.
iv.	Amy BALDOCK, born about 1899, Eltham. 1901: aged 2, with parents.

David
(If your info is still valid...)
I would be grateful for some more information to clarify whether we are linked.
I have a relative, Charles Baldock, b. ~1861 at Womenswold, Kent. His father was Daniel Baldock, b. 1842 at Eythorne, Kent. Daniel's wife was Ann (Carlton), b. ~1842 at Shepherdswell, Kent, and they married on 21 May 1861 at Womenswold, Kent.
I have no more information on Charles yet, but these are the best I can provide at the moment. I have a few Charles and plenty of Daniels in my tree, so the more information the better!

Hope to here soon.

Steve Baldock
B.Sc.(Hons)(Eng)
http://baldockfaggfamily.org.uk
I note your reported lineage. Due to the number of BALDOCKs in the area, there seems to be some conflicting evidence to some lineages. I'm open to discussion (as part of your lineage involves mine), however John (1614 Plumtree) is also given on Ancestry.com trees as having married Ursula HUBBARD with a significant number of offspring. I'm sure there are more than one John around the same time, as most ages are inferred from baptism, however from marriage dates it is clear (if at least 18 at marriage) that many were late baptisms.
I would like to discuss if your interested. Online or offline (through creativegraces.net). I will be uploaded my details to http://creativegraces.net/genindex/baldock.html
If problems, you can reach me through creativegraces.net website (email address on homepage) or view the public tree on Ancestry of the same name.

Regards,
Mark
I have just been notified of your message and though its only 29 minutes past midnight - you have made my day !.
I have searched high and low for your Baldock family without any luck and had the thought that they must have emigrated.

Peter David baldocks grandmother was Caroline Emily Elizabeth TRAVELLER and Traveller was my mums maiden name. I am also in touch with a Joseph Traveller who is a direct descendent Carolines line. He willbe very pleased as well.

I have recently been able totake the Baldock line back to a James Bladock 1797, Chichester, Sussex and the Traveller line back to about 1730 Hertfordshire.

My Direct em is Clif.jade@ntlworld.com.

Be pleased to exchange info.

- Clif ( London )

Their father was Charles Baldock, married to Maisie Baldock. Maisie is still living in Australia, however Charles passed away some years ago (1992) in Australia. I am Charles' grandson.

Would be really keen to find out more about the information you have on the family history. Would be great to get in touch.

Dear Eric,

My great-grandmother was Mary Carey Baldock born in Guernsey in 1807 and died in Walsworth, Surrey in 1882. She married my GGF Andrew Knox. We don't yet know anything about her parents.

Do you have any connection to this family?

Brian Wall
Australia

You are correct about Mary Lizzy Baldock being the daughter of Ambrose and Nancy Ann. Lizzy was my great grandmother. The daughter of her and Elmer Franklin Parker was my Grandmother, Beaulah C. Beaulah married Henry W. Lowe. Their daughter, Margaret Lowe is my mother. I'm Kevin Allen. Hope this helped some, even though your post is older

Thanks for your reply but I am afraid Charles Baldock Snr is not yours. He was Born in Poplar and I have traced his line back to a Thomas Baldock who Married 1817 in Selhurst, Sussex.
I recon eventually I will find that the families I am looking for emigrated as they just dissapear.

- Clif
