I'm trying to trace my father's family history. His mother was a Baldwin and her father was a son of a Jeremiah Baldwin from Kentucky (William M. Baldwin born in KY in 1861). I'm trying to reconcile conflicting accounts and perhaps different Jeremiahs. One Jeremiah was born in 1837, moved to Missouri and married Verlinda Trussell in 1859 ( and later moved to CA). The other married Mary C. Sandefur in 1856. So I either have one man and two different wives in two different states - not impossible - or two Jeremiahs from the same state at the same time. The LDS site makes it one man. My family legends have my Jeremiah being born in 1834 and being one of two children who survived an Indian attack which killed the rest of the family (according to the children). There was a fifteen year old Jeremiah living as a farmer in Ohio Co. KY in 1850.(census) Legend also has him as dying during the Civil War in Tenn. I have found a record of a Jeremiah enlisting in the Confederate Army in Tenn. in 1862. Any help out there?
