At the time I was hoping someone who knew a lot about the Baldwins could tell me about Eva Baldwin. It sort of looked like she may have been the Eva who married a White ancestor.
But I sort of gave up on trying to find the Eva who married Thomas Newton White cause there is no way to find her maiden name. Some of the Whites called her "Tubby". They thought that may have been a maiden name or referred to her size. Anyone I could ask is gone and I have never found any decendents of her four known sons. (I have a picture to Thomas and his five oldest sons)
Did you see both my previous queries?
Thomas would have probably been in the Altoona - Blair county area of PA in the 1870-1880 time frame because his mother (a widow) had married a George Barto and they lived in Altoona. They went to many Civil War reunions around Indiana County as reflected in newspapers. In 1880 census Thomas was in Grant Township, Indiana County, PA with a wife Eva. Three of the sons are listed with the youngest missing but his birth year may be wrong.
Looking for descendents of Alfred Baldwin last known in Durham 1901. He is the older brother of my great grandmother Elizabeth Baldwin.

Alfred was the son of Alfred Baldwin (born Aylesbury Buck in 1863 and grandson of James Baldwin - B Tring Herts C1813) and Frances Benfield, and he was born in Stourport, Worcester in 1883. His family were carpet weavers. They moved to the Durham area between 1893 and 1899. My now deceased grandmother (who was his niece) stated that he was married to Jenny and had at least 3 children - boys Alfred, Arthur and William..
The rest of the family moved to Ayr Scotland sometime between 1901 and 1907, but my grandmother tended to think that he stayed in Durham (although he might have also moved to Ayrshire??)

2 lines of the family now living in Australia.

Very inteerested in making contact with any of his decendents

Lyn

BALDWIN/SPURLIN MARRIAGE BEFORE 1786 NC>GA

I am a new subscriber to the Baldwin e-mail list, but not new to genealogy research. I am seeking parents for Druscilla(vr. spellings)Baldwin who married Jeremiah Spurlin and a possible marriage record before 1787 if one exists probably in North Carolina or Georgia or somewhere along the way. Some years ago a Bible Record of this couple's family was submitted to NSDAR naming their children with birth dates and her maiden name, but no marriage date or place.
Jeremiah Spurlin (vr. spellings)was originally from North Carolina. By late 1787 Jeremiah and Drusiller Spurlin/g were selling land in Wilkes County, Georgia, on the Ogechee River. They were still in Wilkes County in early 1791 when Jeremiah Spurlin bought more land on the north side of Joe's Creek (map location?)where he lived.
Family members eventually moved farther west in Georgia and on to Alabama and eventually to Texas. Elizabeth Spurlin married Thompson Fondren in 1832 in Houston County, Georgia. This is one of my husband's lines that I have not updated in sometime.
Vivian Cates, S H 21 W, Alto, Texas 75925 1-936-858-3801 dbcates@myinu.net

Hello Christie,

My name is Lindsey and I am also a descendant of William Franklin Baldwin and Mary Jane Weese. Sarah Etta (Baldwin)Tucker (1888 - 1950)is my great-great grandmother and her daughter Ruth Ellen (Tucker) Hawkins is my great grandmother. I believe that Lester Baldwin is Sarah's brother. I have a copy of a photograph of Lester from my grandmother. If I remember correctly the information was written on the back of the photo so I should be correct in saying all this. I was wondering if I could see some digital copies of any of your photographs? It would be great if I could verify this photograph (and possibly others) with someone else.

My email is lindseyiten@hotmail.com if you wish to exchange any information. Thanks so much!

- Lindsey -

Re: Baldwin~New York~Ohio

Six years later, but I am also interested in Israel and Hannah Baldwin. They both died in Franklin Co OH and are buried in Pioneer Cemetery in Westerville. Israel died Sept 1855. Per his headstone, he was 86 yrs old, making his birth year about 1769--not 1785. Thus I wondered if he is the same Israel mentioned in the other reply--since the proposed father would have been only 11 in 1769. At WorldVitalRecords, I found an extract of this Israel's will that had been published by the Ohio Genealogical Society, proved Nov 6 1855, that established him as the father of the late William (dob unknown), and thus the grandfather of William's three children Morris Fletcher (went by Fletcher M) b. 1842, Hannah Elizabeth (my husband's 2nd grt grandmother--married Adam Coons in 1866) b. 1844, and William Oregon (assume he was alive in 1855, but haven't found any info!). The will named one of Israel's sons Israel C as the executer and the guardian of Wm's children, tho subsequently I found Hannah in 1850 with a Quinn sister Sophia who married Norman Campbell, and then with Levi Baldwin in 1860 (perhaps Israel's oldest son or younger brother?). The same source provided the marriage of William T Baldwin to Sarah Quinn in Franklin Co in 1840. The personal testimony of Hannah's daughter Allie Coons Wood in her 1940's diary established that Hannah's parents died when she was three (so about 1847-48) and that Hannah was raised by David Quinn (Sarah's older brother? b.1814, d.1895, buried in Fancher Cemetery, Delaware Co, along with Sarah's parents Peter and Elizabeth Quinn).

In trying to figure this much out, I found a long list of Baldwin marriages that occured in Franklin Co from the 1820s into the 1860s. Here was listed Mary's marriage to Randall R Arnold in 1827. This led me to find an anecdote taken from Randall's 1895 diary, posted on a website: http://hardentimes.blogspot.com/search?q=randall+rice+arnold.

I don't have any more info on these Baldwins, but I'm seeking to find the cited will from Israel. I'd be glad to talk with anyone who is also interested.

Annette Edgeworth-Smith, Just2ofus@centurytel.net, listed 2 posts on Baldwin Genforum, April 19, 1999. "Drucilla Baldwin born about 1765 (later corrected)married Jeremiah Spurlin of Richmond County, NC.. He was the son of John and Myally Spurlin of Virginia. Drucilla and Jeremiah moved to Wilkes County, Georgia where son William was born 26 Dec 1786. He married Eleanor "Nellie" Carter". In a later post on Genforum, dated June 13, 2003, she states: "Drucilla Baldwin born: Dec 23, 1761, NC., died: Oct 23, 1837 Hinds County, MS. married Jeremiah Spurlin about 1780 NC.. Jeremiah died 1820, Wilkes County, Georgia. Info from the Granberry Bible on the Spurlin Line. Oldest son John Spurlin was born Oct 4, 1783, Richmond County, NC. married Mary Newberry. Annette's line is through son William spurlin who married Carter".

Personlly, from my Richmond County, North Carolina Baldwin research there is only one Baldwin born this early ( 1761, for Drucilla Baldwin). "Levi Baldwin" Written about by Emma G. Baldwin in her "A Baldwin Genealogy 1503-1986", whom her references point to a
New Jersey birth, which I disaggree with.

John Baldwin (Solicitor)

I have spent ages trying to track down a John Baldwin shown on my wife's grandfather's marriage certificate as Father,Solicitor. His son George Frederick Baldwin was born (illigitimate) in Stanley Road,Eastmoor,Wakefield,Yorks in Dec 1879 and birth cert shows no father and is in Mother's name Wagstaff (Marion/Marianne Wagstaff born 1849 Waterbeach,Cambs.)There was an Asylum and Workhouse in this vicinity, probably where it happened.
Family hand me down says John died in a railway accident in Yorkshire when George was very young.

Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated
