Facts:Matilda mentioned in will of Christian Hazier/Hosier 1837 Nansemond Co. Unknown relation to Hazier. Apparently she was living in Chowan Co, NC, when her husband was killed. She moved back to Nansemond Co. She was housekeeper for Elisha Duke from the 1850 to the 1860 census. On the 1870 census she is living with son, Jesse and his family. She probably died shortly thereafter.

Karen McClendon found 9 pages of notes--written by the Honorable N. H. Ballard of Atlanta in 1928 while in Salt lake. He (N H Ballard), mentions a German Protestant Settlement on Kemps Creek in Wilkes Co, GA, c1800. They had been part of the Londonerry Colony at Hard Labor Creek in the south portion of Abbeville District, S C, c1764-1768. Katherine's father was Abraham Herman, a name that was changed to Harmon, Hammon or Hammond. She had a sister named Susie who married 1) James Bently and 2) Robert Shaw. Abraham had a brother named John Herman. One of the brothers married Adeline Sibert, a daughter in another of these German families. A John Sibert founded St. George's Lutheran Church at Hard Labor Creek in S. C. Lincoln Co, GA is also mentioned.

Samuel and Mary had 10 children. Couple died within days of each other, perhaps of small pox which killed many in those days.
