BOARDMAN, OH – Edward J. Ballas, 77, died Tuesday afternoon , April 10, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.
Mr. Ballas was born March 13, 1935, in Youngstown, Ohio a son of John and Mary Ballas.
A 1953 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Mr. Ballas attended four years of carpentry school and was a carpenter by trade. He was a carpenter for General Motors for 25 years.
His wife, the former Carol Jean Barillaire of 46 years, died Sept. 30, 2002.
He leaves two daughters, Lisa (William Slosser) Ballas of Summerville, S.C. and Becky (John) Soroka of Vienna, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Nichole (Daniel) Barker, Lisa Marie (Jason) Eakle, and Janelle Nichole Soroka; two great-grandchildren, Rylee Astorg and Olivia Eakle.
Besides his parents and wife, Mr. Ballas was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held today at 12:30 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland Chapel.
Interment will follow at the Poland Riverside Cemetery, Poland, Ohio.
Friends will be received today from 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the funeral home.
