William Ballentyne/Balantyne d. 1901 in CO

Appeared in the Sept. 7, 1901 edition of the Lafayette (CO) News:

" William Ballentyne last Saturday while driving in the mine was kicked in the stomach by a mule, and suffered great pain until Monday morning when he passed into the great unknown. The funeral took place Thursday afternoon, attended by nearly all the miners in the camp. The services were held in the Congregational church by Miss Switzer, the pastor. The floral decorations were very pretty. His father, mother and two brothers came from their home in Iowa to attend the last sad rights. Billy had many friends among the boys who sympathize with the bereaved relatives."

Note: Wm. apparently d. about Sept. 3, 1901. There is no headstone marking his grave. City clerk's records indicate Wm. Balantyne 1880-1904 as well as an infant child of Wm. Balantyne d. 1903. (These records have been found to have many inaccuracies.)
I am not related but hope someone can use this info.
Darlene

Ballentyne: Edinburgh/Gateshead uk 1881

Hi,

I am trying to trace relatives of mine. I have hit a brick wall with the Ballentyne (Various spelling configurations).

There was an Alice Ballentyne who had a mother Elizabeth (nee unknown) and her father was George. She was born around 1871 in Gateshead (I think)

By 1881 Alice was living with her mother Elizabeth (now Hunter) in Edinburgh. Elizabeth had remarried in 1874 in Gateshead.

I am trying to trace Elizabeths surname. She was born in Edenbridge in Kent around 1846

I am also trying to find out what happened to George Ballantyne between 1871 (Alice born) AND 1874 (Elizabeth remarrying)

Thanks

Paul

Mobile, AL newspaper
Thurs., Nov. 8, 1906

"Mrs. Ellen Ballentyne who, on Saturday night last shot her husband, W. Ross Ballentyne, who died in the city hospital a few hours afterward, was given a preliminary hearing yesterday morning in the recorder's court, on the charge of murder." The accused, her husband's mother and a neighbor all testified that the victim had been drinking heavily, and that he and his wife had been quarreling.
My wifes ancesters were in Savannah GA between 1880 and 1900. After that they all disappeared. There were actually two Ballentyne families that had numerous offspring. The names of these children turn up on the 1910 Oahu Federal census. I'm checking to verify if this is that group of pepole.

I am looking for anyone that has any information on the family of Mildred Ballantyne. She died in 1979. I am her granddaughter. My mother, Toni Barnett, died in 1992. I have some health problems and I need to know where they came from. My mother, Toni, was adopted by Mildred and her husband, but I do believe that she was adopted within the family. Please if anyone has any information, please contact me. Thank You
