There is a lot of history of the Balli Family on www.balli.org
& there is a historian at UT-Brownsville that can authenticate your lineage if you gather documents. Start with your parents and go back ...gather birth certificates, baptisms, marriage licenses, etc.http://www.setexasrecord.com/news/216074-texas-sc-denies-ano...
It's a shame that the Texas Supreme Court does not recognize the swindling that occured with the Balli Family & continues to this day. Our ancestors recognized that the law was not on their side..it's all about greed, land acquisition, oil, politics & money! My father Artemio Caceres (Donna, Tx) attended the Padre Island Trial, he was 78 at the time (he has since passed)& was excited to meet up with family from Corpus Christi,Brownsville, & Matamoros. He was surprised the Padre Balli line (nephew) had won! I am glad that he was not alive to see that it was overturned by the Texas Supreme Court in 2008. Discussing this trial with my dad back in 2001,reflecting on the past,& referring to our lawsuit with La Barreta Land Grant with the Kings & Kenneys, he said, "you don't understand how long we have been fighting for this land, it was dangerous & useless, if you stayed at the ranch overnight, you might end up dead by morning".
I am an heir to the La Barreta Land Grant & once again that land was leased for 100 years & that lease expired on October 1999. We are not disputing the land that was stolen, but the mineral rights & the TRUTH be told in Texas History!!!
