I am also tracing the Balmforths but nine are the Leeds ones, but on my searches I have found on the Leeds Absent voter lists of 1814 -1918 a Manasseh Balmforth whose army number was 265274 and he was a rifleman in the 1/7 West Yorks regiment and I think he lived at Bexley Grove in North East Leeds,hope he is the one you are looking for
