Re: Maria Balon Demkovich

Maria Balon was the daughter of Andras Balon and Anna Boszak in Zborov, northeastern Slovakia (then part of the Austro-Hungarian empire). Andras was the son of Andreas Ballon and Maria Tulik in Zborov. He married Anna Boszak (dtr. of Joseph and Susan) on Jan. 16, 1877, in Zborov. He was 24, she was 16.

I believe this Balon family is related to my Balon family (maternal great grandmother's fam), since they're from the same small town, but the records are so spotty I can't prove it.

The Demkoviches also can be found in the Zborov records. I've been there, but I did all my research in the U.S. through the LDS Church.

Let me know if I can help any further.

-- Jerry in Michigan
jerryseim@juno.com

Balon family from Besançon, France to Baltimore, MD

My great-great grandparents were Arthur (d. 1916 in france) and Celina Delbeck Balon from Besançon, France. Celina came to the US in 1916 with daughters Berthe and Gabrielle. Some time after 1924 Celina moved to Baltimore with her daughter Berthe and son-in-law Michael Pillires.

I cannot find these people on the 1930 census and the only proof I have that they were in Baltimore are Michael's WWII registration from 1942 and Michael's and Berthe's Death Index. I have nothing on Celina.

Thanks
Joseph Guzzzetta

Hi Phil-
I recently received a Church Marriage record (5-29-1911) from St.Adalbert's in Chicago, IL for John Kasza and Marianna (nee: Stryczek) and the two wittness were: Michael Stryczek and Angela Rak.

I confirmed from this record that Marianna and Michael Stryczek are siblings. Michael is my Great-Grandfather also married at St.Adalbert on 5-21-1912 and the parents names of each were a match.

In searching for a message postings on the "RAK" surname I linked to "Anelia Rak" in your message. I was hoping that Anelia and Angela Rak are one in the same.

The Marriage records for both Marianna and Michael show they were from: Niewiska, Kolbuszowa, Galicia. I have done some research on these City/County names and found that they are located in the Providence of Podkarpackie which is part of Poland and I think it was formerly under the Austrian Rule.

Please let me know if we have a connection here or not.
Thank you.
Patty (E-mail: family2find@joltmail.com)

I have been searching for many years for a Shirley Ann Ballon who married Quentin Bradley Justice on January 31, 1959, and had two sons, Bradley Thomas Justice (born in Worcester, MA in August 1959) and Gerald Glenn Justice (born in Broward County Florida in December 1962). I am married to Gerald and he has been searching for his mother for most of his life and I have been trying to help since our marriage in 1990. Jerry was taken from Florida by his father in 1969 following the separation of his parents. Jerry has no contact with his father and has not been able to gain any information from him regarding his mother or her family. He has been desperate to find her and if there is ANY way this could be YOU, or if you have any information about her, please contact me as this would be the most wonderful gift I could possibly give my husband.
Hi Victoria,
The Balon that I am looking up, was Bartime. He was a Frenchman that married (in Washington Co. AL) Anne Richardson <my ggggrandmother> after the children were born and before they reached age 6 he disappeared and was 'spied' by one of the Sullivans (also of my line) to have become a preacher in Texas and with a whole new family. No one knows what became of him.
Wendy
Check out my site and see if there's anything you might find to help you.
http://www.geocities.com/wendy46gen/index.html
I believe Clement Balon was a grandfather to Stanley Klap (now Klopp) of Rowne, Poland. In the 1920's, Frank Balon and Mary Balon appear as sponsors on family baptismal certificates from Freeland, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. Please contact me privately at dklopp@ptd.net and I'll provide specifics.

Hello?
I hope someone can help me. Here's what I have, maybe it will help someone else. There are variant spellings of the last name, but he was French.
He was married to Mary A. Richardson; they had 1 daughter I can find (at this time) who was Margaret Lucinda Balon/Baulein/etc. who married Solomon Sullivan..<my ggrandfather/MA>...I have more on this if anyone can relate or link it with their line.
Would also appreciate a little help as well. All we know is that Bartime disappeared shortly after the kids were born (this tells me there was more than one-can't find a 2nd one) and I've been told that he showed up either in New Orleans or Texas as a Preacher. When married and still with Mary, they lived in or around Leroy or Wakerville,AL (Washington Co.).
Thank you

Apolonia (1878-1960) was born in Wadowice Gorne, Poland on Sept 27, 1878 and entered the U.S. on September 2, 1903. She resided in Bondsville, MA. From research done by another family member, I have a tree showing Apolonia's siblings as: Frank Bolow, John Bolow, and Anthony Gwozdz. John is listed as having one son, Edward Bolow. Anthony is listed with 3 children: John, Frank, and Stacia.

He was probably born around 1930's time frame and was in the Ohio, Kentucky area for some amount of time. This is not much to go by, but you never know the luck you may have! Thankyou.

Sara - My name is Charles Balon - I believe that the information you found is my grandfather (Martin)and my grandmother (Suzzana).I had an uncle Martin(he lived and died in California), an aunt Anna ( she lived and died here in Johnstown),an aunt Rose ( she lived and died in New Jersey - i believe)and of course my dad (Karl - his name is Charles - or Kadoy (sp.) as my grandmother called him. Is it possible to get the picture and description of Martin ? I have been searching for quite awhile for info. and i can't believe that this has come up. Please respond directly to my email address if possible. I am so excited that its hard to write this. I am searching for my cousin Patty who is my dads niece. My uncle Martin had to give her up for adoption when his wife (Vaniece) died in California. My dad is almost desperate to meet with her. Have you found anything about her ? How are you associated with the Balon name ? Please write back. Where did you find the petition and declaration ? I just have so many questions to ask. Thank you in advance for your help. I also said if you want a copy of the Naturalization record I can get one for you. There is a nice picture with it along with his physical description.

My sister-in-law is the daughter of Martins brother George and his wife Susan, her name is Nancy Stewart Deffenbaugh.

I had a maternal grandmother who came from Rzeczow,Poland, and her name is Catherine Balon. She was given her mother's maiden name and arrived in NY on The Amsterdam II on Sept.10,1906. Apparently this ship made one crossing and I am trying to find her name on the passenger list, if I get that far.She had a sister in Buffalo whose name ,we believe was Balvina Szczepanik before her marriage. Catherine Balon married Peter Bentkowski who was a riviter for Bethlehem Steel all his life. We have all lived in Bethlehem, PA. The name of Dugosz was mentioned and we know that name as Dlugosz and also Biernacki was also a name my family knew in South Bethlehem. Recently, I found a envelope of a Szczepanik family in Poland and wrote them to see if anyone is there. We'll see if they reply. My mother is 82 and can still read the language so if they write in Polish we can learn about anything they can remember concerning Catherine and Balvina. Catherine and Peter had four children:Mary,Matthew,Mildred, and Sophie. If anyone knows of a connection to Bethlehem I would love to hear from you!

Hello, I have found more information on the Balons since my last post. My great grandfather had a brother named Peter Balon and I believe his wife was named Kate. They had at least 3 children by the early 1900's. Stanislaus(Stan), Mary, and Rose. These children were born in McKean co. Pennsylvania. I'm unsure of where my great great uncle moved after he left McKean Co. I had thought that he moved to Springville, NY. Do you have any leads?

Thanks!

Keith,
My great grandfather, Michael Balon immigrated to the US in the late 1800's from Rowne, Poland. Rowne Poland is on the Czech border and borders and names of towns often changed. I would love to hear what information you have. Most of what I know of my family is small. I don't know whether or not other Balon's immigrated with my Great grandfather or not. I know that his wifes name was Kasperyzk. It was shortened to Kasper. There are many of their relatives in Springville, New York. My great grandfather settled in Pennysvlania, McKean County. He worked as a railroad foreman. I would love to hear from you. I would think there is some relation here.

Hello, I don't have the information that you have, however, I would question whether they were related. Many times names of towns were written down as people sounded them out, not how they were actually spelled. The polish language is rather different than ours and there are some letters that they don't use. I will have to ask my Great Aunt if some of the names you have mentioned ring a bell with her. She is in her 80's and would probably remember if the names you have mentioned would be relation. I wonder myself about the spelling of the town. That's interesting. Rowne Poland only had that name for a short time. It used to be Reichtenstein, Chechzsolvakia? Please excuse my spelling. I will keep you posted. My email address is gracemw@juno.com.

Balon's in PA

Hello, I read your message and thought I'd give you some of my family info. My family spelled their name Balon. I have seen it both ways. I'm curious regarding your Stanley and Rose. My great grandfather immigrated to the US from Poland before 1900. His brother Peter also immigrated. I believe that Peter's wife was named Kate. My Balon's originally settled outside of Buffalo NY and later moved to PA. My great grandfather was named Michael and his wife was Mary. His brother Peter and his wife had a son named Stan(Stanislaus)and a daughter named Rose. Does any of this sound familiar? Where in PA are your roots? Mine go back to McKean County. A small area known as Bingham. Please email me back. Thanks for your time.
