Jerome J. "Roni" Balthazor, 87, Palco, died Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney.
He was born Feb. 21, 1922, in Palco to Jermaniah and Rose (Roberts) Balthazor. He graduated from Palco High School.
He married Illa Jean Cokeley on April 11, 1950, in Damar. He was a pumper for Barnett Oil Co. until retirement in 1984.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; three sons, Ron Balthazor, Lexington, Neb., Don Balthazor, Vidor, Texas, and Marty Balthazor, Plainville; a daughter, Gloria Linville, Ponca City, Okla.; two brothers, Alcid Balthazor and Keith Balthazor, both of Salina; a sister, Marian St. Peter, Damar; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Paul Balthazor and Lee Balthazor; and a daughter-in-law, Jody Balthazor.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Plainville; burial in Pleasant View Cemetery with military honors provided by Reeder-Dinkel-Westhusin Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8871.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, both at Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel, Plainville.
A Ladies Guild rosary will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the chapel.
A vigil will be at 6:30 p.m., followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary, both at the chapel.
Memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Sacred Heart School in care of the funeral home.
