Perhaps, but I can't find any documentation to support that.In the 1910 census she isn't listed in James and Mattie Balthrop's household, and Mattie is shown on the 1920 census as having birthed 2 children with none living on the census date. In the 1920 census she is shown in their household as 12 years old. Given that documentation it is difficult to make a case that she was not adopted. I show Etilee as having married twice - to James Embrey(1928) & Clyde White(no date) - no documentation reference on either. When the 1940 AR census gets a search menu I will see what is shown there.
