I am hoping you still check the message board - I am trying to find info on Ellen Bambrick. She married my great-great grandfather, John Minnick, in the Berkshires in Massachusetts about 1860, but on all census records, her birthplace is given as Canada. We have located a baptismal record in Quebec, as the daughter of Ellen Walsh and Robert Bambrick, but cannot confirm that this is the correct person.

Kay

Thanks for your reply. Great hearing from you. In the Griffith's Valuation (c. 1848) there is a John & Patrick CORCORAN living in Skerry - presumably with families. In the 1901 Census there are LOTS of Corcorans in Skerry - John & Margaret have a large family of nine children; there is also Matthew Corcoran & family and a Daniel Corcoran & family. You can check them out if you Google Irish+Census+1901 - it's free. You can also check them out in the 1911 Census. There are still Corcorans in the Rosenallis area - I'm sure they're connected.

To my knowledge, the McEvoys got the Cosby farm because they (McEvoys) were connected by mariage, but the Cosby line itself in that area died out. I'm sure Timmy or his cousin David McEvoy will put you right on that story when you come to Ireland this summer. It appears (at the moment) that our side of the McEvoys are not directly connected with Timmy & David.

Blessings.

Kevin

Hi, I am not home at present where my records are but will be back next week. I have found the siblings of the Corcoran and Cosby famlies and was also able to find their husbands/wives. Both of my husband's grandparents were baptised the same day at St. Joseph's.
I put some of the information that I received from the church register on "Calling all Corcorans".
The both familes had about 7 or 8 children.
Do you know if there are any decendants of the Corcorans from Skerry or any Cosbys from Clonaheen ?
I started listing all births & marriages from the late 1700's that I found on the microfilm.
Are you interested in the McEvoy?

I'll be coming to Youghal,Cork in May for my nieces'wedding and would be interested in driving to Laois.

Thank you for any information.

Regards, Kay

Our farm in Clonaheen, Rosenallis, was beside COSBYS. I know Dick McEVOY's family are now farming on what was Cosby's in Clonaheen. I remember the ruins of Cosby's house. Dont know what else you found.

Hi Thank you, very much, for your prompt reply. I would be very interested in any information that you find through your research re the family trees of Bambrick and Kimberley. It is unfortunate, that we couldn't have connected when you were in Canada. We enjoyed our visit with Aunt Beatrice and Uncle Bill, here in Canada, and when we visited Scotland. I do not belong to ancestry.com, at the present time - they have a free weekend until, tomorrow, September 5 - I have always, wanted to join, but, do not have much spare time with my work, but may reconsider since we have connected, as I hope to learn more about my father, Patrick O'Hara/Bambrick. Thank you, again.

I believe that there were quite a few children including a William and a Hardy.
Any info will be greatly appreciated as always!
Kind Regards
D.Sharpe

I'm sorry for this message being so long and involved I seem to have reached a stalemate in my research and am appealing to anyone who can help in any way. I am looking for information on some of my relatives from Northern Ireland and Scotland. I am in Australia and am finding it very difficult to access records from Northern Ireland. If anyone can help me with this I would be extremely grateful.
The first records I'm having trouble with is that of William Bambrick born in 1856 in Armagh (I am not certain about this). He married Jane Redpath who was born in Scotland abt 1862. William appears to be in the Scottish census in 1881 and 1891. I believe that he then returned to Ireland probably Down or Antrim. The only other information that I have is that William may have had a brother named Hardy born abt 1871 in Ireland. I think that if I could find out who William Bambricks parents were i'll be able to continue extending my Bambrick tree.
I realise this is a lot of info but any suggestions on where I may be able to access records - especially because I am in Australia - would be great.

Kind Regards

Hi Patrick, Gran was Annie Elizabeth Kimberley or Elizabeth Ann as you called her. She was married in 1910 to Victor Bambrick & divorced after having 3 children, Beatrice, Arthur & Victor. She went on to marry William Coley where she had 4 more children, the twins died, only Kathleen & Dorothy(my mum) survived. We were often in touch with Auntie Beattie & Uncle Vic whilst they were alive but only heard about Arthur when Auntie Beck gave me some letters from him before she died. Would be happy to share any info.
kathy

Hi Tiffany, thanks would be great if i could start to trace back my family tree. My grandfather was Thomas-Joseph Bambrick he came from Kilkenney where we still have family today, he married Florence Jessie and they moved to the UK as Thomas fought for the english during the war as a desert rat. My father Ian Bambrick always told me we were descendants of the famous Joe Bambrick footballer , not to sure what relation he was to my grandfather thomas , i'll ask my father when i see him to see if we can get a clearer picture i'm doing this out of pure interest thats all. cheers paul.

They moved from Ireland to Scottland for work and had a son in 1912 by the name of Peter Bambrick who married Ruby miller and had several children one of which is my father-in-law Patrick Joseph Bambrick. We are unsure of counties or towns or anything in Ireland. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Hello Patrick. My sister married Patrick Bambrick, who is one of 6-8 children. His parents met in the service during WWII. Patrick's mom lives on the east side of Cleveland, Ohio. Perhaps in the Richmond Heights area. I recall the following names for his brothers: William, James, Daniel, Robert, & Neal, he has a sister named Sue. He has another sister & I am pretty sure there are a couple more brothers. But I live in California & I have not had any contact with the Bambricks since at least 1980. I know some of them lived in Florida. I hope this information is helpful for you.

My husband's great-grandparents Patrick & Lucy Cosby Corcoran of Clonaheen Laois left Ireland 1869 with their son Patrick b. 06 Apr 1868. They arrived in NY and eventually settled in Yonkers, NY. I am trying to find Patrick and Lucy's birth & marriage records and any siblings. At the birth of Patrick jr. Elizabeth Cosby was present. It may have been her mother, sister or sister-in-law. One of their sons was named Fenton [unusual name] and I found a Fenton Cosby born to Thomas & Mary Cosby in Laois.
I am reading the microfilm of the catholic parish records of Mountmellick 1814-1860 but cannot recognise any other family members.
Has anyone heard of the Corcoran or Cosby families?
Would appreciate any information.
Kay

My Dad was Patrick Joseph Bambrick born in Co.Kilnenny, Ireland in 1910 and came to England in the 1920s. His parents were Richard and Ann Bambrick. They had nine children and my Dad was the eldest. They were cousins of Joe Bambrick - soccer play for Chelsea and Northern Ireland (can be found in Guiness Book of Records). So I guess your Grandfather and my Dad were cousins.
