In answer to 8/30/11 I am not the recipient of photos, but I would like to be. Email me at eagle@cnw.com and I can answer all your questions.

Yes they were Lutheran, but became Dunkers. The family came over in 1831 and were shipwrecked near Virginia Beach. Quite a story.
Sincerely,
John D. Bame

Are you the same Bame I sent some photos of Philip Bame and close relatives to awhile ago?

I do really appreciate knowing where Johannes Bame was buried as I did not have that information.

I have some information on Philip Bame's descendants since I descend from his daughter Lovina. Incidentally, Elizabeth Black West, 2nd wife of Philip, was a sister, I understand, to Andrew Black who married Lovina--making Philip both father-in-law and brother-in-law to Andrew. Adding that to some other interesting connections on Anna Thomas' side of the family makes some real fun trying to draw a family tree.

I do not have a list of siblings of Philip Bame and would be interested in that if you have that list.

Also, do you know what circumstances brought these Bames to America?

I understand Philip was Lutheran background although we know he joined the "Dunkers" and when they spolit into three groups, I have been told he, Anna, and one daughter joined the Old order Brethren. Does Lutheran fit with the family background?

Thanks so much for answering my query.

Alice Archer

Philip Bame was a first cousin of my great grandfather Samuel M F Bame. He came from a large family in Hancock county Ohio near Jenera and Arlington Ohio. His father was Johannes Bame, who died in 1895 and is buried in St. Paul's cemetery.
My information says that he was born about 1835 in Franklin county Ohio and he and Anna Thomas were married September 29, 1856 in Hancock county. Anna died April 26, 1901 and Philip married Elizabeth Black West in 1903.

I have lots of information about the extended Bame family.
John D.
Hi, I found your message looking for Richard J Bame, of Lawrence Cty, PA.... Richard's mother (Hilda) and my mother (Edith) were sisters. I am wondering if you have found him or anything about him and his family. I sure would like to find them also. As we get older, we seem to want to tie up the ends that frayed over the years...

Lois Ann Wadlinger Woodlief

I am pretty sure that the Sarah Bame you are looking for is the daughter of Phillip Bame and Anna Thomas Bame. Per my records: Phillip and Anna had four daughters: Louisa Bame--never married. Lovina Bame married Andrew Black (my great-grandparents), Sarah E. Bame married Joseph Crall and married John Crall second (cousin to Joseph), and Mary Bame married Davis Clinard.

Phillip and Anna, their daughters Louisa, Sarah, and Lovina, I believe, are all buried in Monk's Cemetery in Van Buren County, MI.

Anna Thomas' roots are in the Thomas and Shively families.

I have more information. Feel free to contact me.

Alice Archer

Phillip Bame born in France abt 1821, married BARBARA, had 7 identified children, Joseph is the 2nd, he married Mary Haws and Nettie Britton. Phillip lived in Ohio and is found on the census records with the last name spelled BAIN last. Ohio Entry residence was Dayton, Montgomery, Ohio, after that he came to UTAH with wife Barbara, 2 children Victor and Josephine also came to Utah.
Antoine Bame was french

I am looking for anyone that might have a Antoine or Jacques Bame in their family.
The ancestor I am hunting for may have had a different spelling. Antoine Bane born about 1786 in Belguim was french and married Justine Marchand in Canada. Justine was Swiss. Antoine and Justine Bain came to Wisconsin about 1827 and I traced them to about 1855 and then they disappear. In one census it listed him as Antoine Bame so am looking into a possible spelling difference.
Email me if the names above or Shullsburg Wisconsin sound familiar.
rkkd123@aol.com

I don't know what the reason. Anyway, my husband's line has been Bame ever since. Don't see an Anna Marie BAME so don't know if you'd be interested in my looking for David's siblings.
