Gayle,
I shall have to look into my Dad's research. He spoke and read German and visited that area of "Prussia" in 1992. He may have located the names of uncles/aunts and grand uncles/aunts. He told me that many old records were destroyed (having been in churches) by the slavics after WWII when the area became Polish. They wanted to destroy the historical memory that the area had been German. Place names were also "slavicized".
I'll have a look into a book he privately published on the matter.
