If your husband is a cousin of Kristi's Grandmother, then he is a distant cousin of mine. My Great Grandfather was Charles Bang. My Grandfather was his son John Bang. He died in 1941. My Dad was Robert Bang a/k/a Bobby Bang and his brother was John Andrew Bang. Charles' father was also named John Bang and his wife was Marianna A. Paulson Bang. I have traced this John Bang back to Denmark. However, I have found nothing else. Do you have any more information? We have alot of Johns in our family. I've been told that this Alexander was the son of Jacob Henkel II and Marie Angelique Baudrau.

I've also been told that this Alexander was my great-great grandfather, but I have no proof. I'm looking for some sort of documentation that gives any information on this Alexander Bang, his wife and children.

Can any of you point me in the right direction?

Hmmm, I was just sent a report on the extended Bang families. There's a Rosalie Bang (born 1861) listed as marrying an Archie Davis and having a daughter named Celestine Davis.

John B. Bang was born 1872. He married Armina Josephine Garlic July 17, 1892 in Jackson County, Mississippi.

Armina's parents were Joseph Garlic and Nancy Danielly. She was born c. 1871 and died July 21, 1940 in Vancleave, MS.

Child of John B. Bang and Armina Garlic:

The information I'm posting below is from a wonderful Ladnier cousin. I don't have documentation to back up this information, but this should give you a starting place as to where to look.

Edmond "Edmo" Bang was born c. 1830. In c. 1850 he married Celestine "Celeste" Ladnier in Jackson Co., MS. She was the daughter of Alexis Ladnier and Mary Ely and was born c. 1829.

Mary Jane Bang born 1857 (died Jan. 4, 1927)

Edmond's parents are listed as Eugene Bang (b. c. 1809) and Rose Nicolas Ladnier, daughter of Pierre Ladnier and Helene Moreau. Rose was born c. 1805 and died Jan. 24, 1893.

Eugene Bang's parents are listed as Jacob Henkel II (born Nov. 1, 1769 in Pointe Coupee, LA; died c. 1848) and Marie Angelique Baudrau (born c. 1773 in Jackson Co., MS and died April 29, 1853). They were married May 4, 1799 in Mobile, AL. (Marie's parents were Jean Baudrau and Marie Fayard.)

Jacob Henkel II's parents are listed as Jacob Henkel I (born c. 1720 in Westerheim, Germany) and Marie Marthe Pacquet (born May 4, 1735 in Mobile, AL; died after 1814). They were married May 4, 1769 in Pointe Coupee, LA. (Marie's parents were Pierre Pacquet and Magdelen Baudrau.)

Jacob Henkel I's parents are listed as Christian Henkel (born in Germany) and Appoline Schlott (born in Germany).

I've also found the family in the 1870 census. Ancestry's index has them listed as Baney, not Bang. And Celestine is listed as Alestine.

I see Edmond, Celestine and their daughter and some of their grandchildren in the 1900 census.

I see a Silvan and his wife Mary in that same census.

I see Edmond, Celestine & their children in the 1880 census.

There's also an Edmond listed in the Mississippi land records in 1882.

Do you need any of that information, or do you have it already?

It's been a few years so not sure if you found your information. I do have the names listed in your post in my family tree.
I have a Lomie Tanner (15 sep 1928-4 feb 1983) who married a Eurline.
Lomie's parents I have as Thomas Columbo Tanner and Mary M. Dollie Waltman. I have 7 children listed for them.

Thomas Tanner was the son of Wylie Tanner and Lamanda Livings.
Lamanda Livings was the daughter of William Livings and Catherine Danielly.

Mary Waltman was the daughter of Joseph Jesse Waltman and Mary Jane Bang
Mary Jane Bang was daughter of Edmond Edmo Bang and Celestine Ladiner.

I do have more info on the family if needed and would love to share what I do not have.

John B. Bangs married Armina Josephine Garlic in 1893. Armina was first married to a James Walker

When I saw your message, I was quite intrigued. I've been doing some genealogy for my family. My relatives on my moms side are the Bang's. When I saw Charles Christian Bang, I looked at my family tree and find a Charles Christian Bang, son of John Bang and Marriane Paulsen. In my tree, Charles was born on Dec 2 1877 in Plano Tx. and passed away Dec 7 1965 in Houston Tx. If any of this matches information that you have, then we are cousins and I would like to get any additional information that you might have and I can share what I have. Been tracing their family tree because here in the Philippines, very few has that surname. So my job now is to find if any anywhere in the world who came from our country. I am looking for information on the family of Ole H. Bang, born October 17, 1847 in Valdres, Norway. He came to the US in the spring of 1869, and originally located in the Madison, WI area. He was a tailor there for 3 years. He had worked at that trade in Christiania in Norway before coming to the US. Later he moved to the Oslo area (to Granville, a couple miles south of town here). Ole Bang passed away in 1929. His wife, Jennie Olson Bang died in 1936.

I am holding my breath hoping that my family might connect. But with all of the years that I have been searching, I just don't know if I will ever get to the truth. My knowledge of my family is this:
Husband: Peder (maybe L) BANG b. May 1841 Denmark. Both parents were born in Denmark. He filed for intent to naturalize 1871 and did by 1910. He lived in Minnesota all of the time he was in the US. He died 1918 and is buried in the Minnesota Cem, MN City, MN under Peter BUNG.
Wife: Sarah JOHNSON b. Jan 1843 Bergen, Norway filed for intent also 1871 but never naturalized. She died 1925.
Children:
Sarah, b. 1875 in MN but is not on the 1880 census.
I found her on a state or local census many years
ago. I haven't located her since. I can't find a
burial or death record either.
Lawrence: b. Aug 1878 MN m. Florence d. 1959 bur. Woodlawn
Cem., Winona, MN. A descendant of Lawrence has
a web site and contacted me several years ago to
tell me that our family name is really BUNG.
After collecting and reviewing my notes again
and really looking at the 1880 and 1900 census
records, I still believe our surname began as BANG.
Emil Orville BONG: b. 18 Oct 1879 MN Cty, Winona, MN,
m. Anna Cleo CASHMAN 26 Dec 1923 Portland, Mlt., OR,
d. 5 Apr 1943 Portland, Mult., OR. This is my
grandfather. He changed his name before coming to
Oregon. I have a business card that shows that he
had tried to change it to BOND also. From what I
am told, he suffered from mental illness, possibly
paranoia, maybe paranoid scizophrenia. He had lied
to my grandmother about his age. She was born in
1907. They had seven children together.
Peter Henry: b.18 Jun 1880 MN m. Lillian d. 1957 buried
Woodlawn Cem., Winona, MN
Charles: b. 1883 MN Charles shows up on every census
record until 1910. By 1920 he was serving in the
War. The family didn't hear from him again. My
father, named Charles Bong, remembers meeting an
Uncle Chuck or Charles that had been in the
military. Recently, I located a death record for
a Charles Bong listed in Washington State that
seems to match his birth year and states his
parents from Denmark and Norway.

Other information: From the 1900 and 1910 census records, Peter is not living with the family. He is listed once as a laborer. Another time as a boarder. He listed himself as a widower. Sarah however listed herself as divorced. Lawrence Bung's descendant said she moved to Wisconsin and was buried near Racine.
I don't know anything else about the family. One woman had said she knew of a connection with the Bang and Johnson families in Norway and would email me, and I didn't ever hear. Any help you can give would be soooo! appreciated!

I'm pretty sure they're my ancestors. I have the Bang family back to my great-grandparents Eugean/Eugene Bang & Rebecca Sterling/Starling. They moved from Jackson Co., MS to Louisiana sometime before 1920.

I have doen a bit of research on the Bang family..Knud Jacobsen Bang, and his descendents.....who came to South Africa...we believe he Knud came from Denmark, went to Norway. Phil is my 2nd cousin.
My grandmother is Mabel Bang, wife of Art Bang, who is the
father of Elaine Brnad, Lyle Bang & Nancy Janssen.
I have a lot of geneaology stuff on the Bang's. I have been working on my two sides of the family as well as my husbands two sides for approx. the last 8 years. Let me know if you would like any information.
If your grandfather is Eugene Bang of Fremont, he is my mom's second cousin. He also lived with my grandparents & my mother and her brother and sister that I mentioned above when he was growing up. Ask him & he will tell you who I am, I know Uncle Eugene has done a lot of geneology stuff on the Bang's, I may have is but have moved into Fremont recently off of an acreage & need to locate all of it (as it is all in my basement somewhere). Mabel Bang, your grandmother, was the daughter of Henry and Mary Knoell, correct? I have her in my family tree because Mary Knoell was the daughter of Charles and Mary Hoffman, all of whom lived in Fremont. Charles Hoffman was a brother to my husband's great-great-grandfather, Henry Hoffman.

I am trying to identify a photo. It shows a man in front of a Jewelry store. There are printed ads on the glass that show the name South Bend and a display on the street that is for South Bend Watch Co., South Bend, Indianna. My grandfather Mordie Lee Woods may be the man in the photo. In his early years he worked ina jewelry store in Olathe, KS. and then later in Newton, KS. He eventually became a Optometrist and practiced in Newton, KS. The image appears to be ca. 1900-1930. The name on the store front is Bangs & Woods. The "Bangs" is tenative as it is in shadow and in a script face - so it's hard to read. Does anyone connect to this image?

Your mom is my husband's cousin. Shirley and I were in school together in Alvin, Texas. I, too, am trying to find the Bang lineage but having little luck past Charles Christian Bang. I have a lot of info from his second wife, but your grandmother's mother was Charles' first wife. I don't know her name or anything about her, however. I'm using my daughter's email name right now. If your Charles Bang was Charles Christian Bang, then he may be my husband's grandfather. Our Charles Christian Bang was married to UNKNOWN WIFE, had several children. They either divorced or he was widowed, and Charles married Willie Kate McQuire, who was divorced with several children. Together they had a BUNCH of children (his, hers, theirs totaled 19). Children included Agnes Bang, Fretta Bang, Charles Bang, Lawrence Bang, Wilma Bang, Davida Bang, etc.
