Lucille Strosk Bankowski
Lucille Strosk Bankowski died April 15, 2001. Born March 2, 1916, in New Jersey, she was 85.
She was raised in Berkeley, and after graduating from the Anna Head School, she attended UC Berkeley, where she earned a degree in psychology. Her husband, Raymond, was a graduate student in veterinary science when they met. They were married in 1940.
In 1950, she and her husband moved to Davis, where he joined the faculty of the veterinary school. They both loved to travel and visited most areas of the world. After her husband's death in 1993, she continued to travel with friends and her daughter Susan.
She loved needlework and was co-owner of the Barbara-Lou Knit Shop during the 1960s.
She was always active in the community. She was a member of the PTA, University Farm Circle, Enchanted Hills, the California Veterinary Medical Association Auxiliary, Sutter Davis Hospital Volunteers, Embroiderers' Guild of America, UC Davis Presents and International House.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan Irene of Davis and Linda Bankowski of Riverside.
A funeral mass will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at St. James Catholic Church, 200 W. 14th St. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Sutter Davis Hospital Auxiliary or Yolo Hospice.
