Re: Banos Nationality?

I have been researching about my heritage. I am a Banos as well. I believe the Banos line must come from somewhere in the pyrenees, since there are several Spaniard and French Banos(in France: Banos, in Spain: Baños). In Mexico I have only met another Banos, it is not a common last name. In California I also met another Banos, yet again it is an uncommon last name. I suppose the Banos ancestry must have been catholic priests, at least the majority of them, since we are very few. This could also explain why there is a Banos line in Greece. If any of you guys ever find conclusive info on the original Banos ancestry, I would truly appreciate if you shared it.

I have relatives that have the Banos last name. As well as Aleck and Stephenos ? on spelling. All came to America from Greece starting near 1900. All that I know of settled in California and I've been unfortunate and have not had much contact with them.

My Banos line is of Greek decent. How about anyone else? Other than my family members, I know of no other Banos people in America. Some of our family is still in Greece, but I don't know them. There are Greeks with the spelling Benos but not Banos.
