Bacque in Erce, Ariege

Looking for anyone who is also researching the name BACQUE in the Ariege. My great-grandmother was born Anne Bacque Massipou Tarda(last two names were nicknames added to differentiate all the Bacques in that part of L'Ariege.) in 1876. Married Jean Servat (nickname was Sans Souci - means, without troubles), b. Erce 1871, d. 1940. Family was from Erce, surrounding towns were Aulus les Bains, Oust, St. Girons.

I have on my records that Jean Baptiste Bacquet pledged alliance to the King of Spain in Santiago de Cuba. I do have a little more info but let me check my records again. Pretty sure I have the address too where he lived.

This was prior to arriving to New Orleans.

I'm a second cousin of Cpl. Baquet. His loss has haunted our family for generations. I'm getting in contact with direct descendants of his today. His legacy inspired my own service. I just visited our Louisiana Korean Memorial in Metairie, La. We lost him years before I was born but seeing his name there for the first time just shook me to my bones. May God bless your sacred undertaking. In His peace, sincerely, Harold F. Baquet.

I am also a Marsh. Aury and Amy would be my gggggrandfather and mother. My lineage flows through Aury-1788, Moses-1812, James G.-1834, William G.I-1866, William G. II-1894 and then to my mother DeEtte Marie Marsh 1918. I have an Uncle who is William III-1921 who is still alive and works on the family history too.
As I understand it Phoebe and Moses were siblings. I go back as far as the first Aury (with confindence)of 1788. Any farther back and I don't trust my research skills.
Val Walstad

Hi "MimiLovesAll"...

I'm confused on the death date of Dave Alexander too! I truly believe that I have his death certificate somewhere but can't put my fingers on it at this time. The conflict for me is the obituary for Carmelita Judge Tanco. It reads as follows:

*	Obituary posted in "The Daily Review" of Hayward, California 4/19/1972.

TANCO, Carmel ? In Oakland April 17, 1972. Dearly beloved wife of the late David Tanco; Loving sister of Mercedes Gi?rard; Ideaized grandmother of Bruce and Michelle Tanco; Also survived by nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral Thursday April 20th at ?:30? a.m. from the Mosswood Chapel. thence to St. Grancis? deSales Cathedral for a Requiem Mass at 9:00 a.m. Rosary Wednesday 7:30 p.m.
Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery, Oakland.
ALBERT ENGEL & CO.
3550 Telegraph Ave. at 37th St.
Oakland 652-3625

I got the death certificates from one of the decendants of the Tanco/Hunter marriage. The problem was that they were trying to figure out what happened to the parents. There are several "Lillian" children born to this portion of the Tanco line and this particular child (Lillian Patricia) was raised by Lillian Dot Tanco, her aunt. To the best of my knowledge Lillian Patricia has no pictures. It is my understanding that she wasn't particularly close to her aunt. I have spoken with her and she was very nice and I think is still living. I'll look for a telephone number!!!

til later,
deb---

Deb on notes of David alexander are confused with his son
David Judge Tanco death 1973...We did not know that David
Alexander Tanco was married to Helen Hunter ? If you have any connection on their daughter Lillian it would be terrific . She might have a photo of her father.
Mary.. aug 6,2007

POW/MIA Korean War, BAQUET

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave New Orleans, Louisiana as his home of record. His remains were never recovered.

Soldier: RUDOLPH P BAQUET
Born: October 7, 1926, Black
Date of loss:November 30, 1950, MIA

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. The Baquet family is one of those missing.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
Hello! Don't know if you're still out there searching, but I am just beginning research on a newly discovered branch of my family, the Goldens. My gggrandfather's name is ROBERT Golden b. 1806. He raised his family in Genesee Co and Oakland Co,. MI but seems to have roots in NY and Canada. I have been attempting to connect Robert with ZENAS Golden b. 1804 and WILLIAM Golden b. 1810. I THINK they all are brothers. Ancestry.com's info says that a THORN Golden b. 1795 of Seneca, NY is the father of Zenas and WIlliam. My previous research linked Robert and Zenas as brothers. A family tree entry on Rootsweb mentions a THORN Golden/Golding and wife Harriet Roberts and another daughter Emma, born later who also made her home in Seneca, NY. The "loyalists to Canada" idea makes sense to me since Robert lists on a couple census records that he is from Nova Scotia or simply Canada. His grandson who is named after him was also born in Canada, the only one of his many siblings not born in Michigan! So perhaps much of the family left together for Michigan at a later time and there were still relatives in Canada to visit??? With unusual names like Zenas and Thorn coming up repeatedly in this group and some of these other hints, I'm hoping that there might be a connection with all the info in your research. Any information you could share will be appreciated...please reply!
Thank you! Mary Ann Williams :)

Dear Thomas,

I have some info on the names but no connection that i know of at this time. I was in New Orleans last month.

Charles A. Baquie was a volunteer in Company K in the Civil WAr and the Charles George Edouard Baquie was from Great Britain but lived in New Orleans for several years and he is buried in St. Louis #2 Cemetary in New Orleans. I believe that Emma Cecile was his wife. I am sending this info without my notes so its strictly from memory. I am still trying to make the connections to my family line but I do have info on a Meutile Baquie who was my great-great grandfather in New Orleans about the 1850's and before. He would have been born about 1815. But no written documentation yet.
Are you a Baquie or Baquet?

Dianne

Hi Mary...

Sorry that I haven't answered your previous query yet, however, I still don't have my files from the computer crash. I may never get them since this has been going on for months now. Well, I did have some hard copies of birth/death certificates and some hand written notes from long ago. In my notes I found that David Judge Tanco passed away as a result of a car accident. Could you confirm this? The notes were also on the death certificate for Felix Tanco (David's grandfather). Mary, according to my notes you and David had two children? I would love for you to confirm this also. Since we are living descendants I just couldn't name anyone on this forum. I really try to avoid that if at all possible. I can certainly send you a copy of my file from familytreemaker as that was one thing that was saved prior to my old hard drive being sent to another company for restoration. So, I'll write to you personally! Hope that is okay!

til later,
deb---

If there is anything that I might have that would be of interest to you, I am very willing to share. I have tried to find documentation of Cicero's parents, but have had no luck. I have a copy of his obituary which says that his mother was killed in a ship's boiler explosion, but I have not found any other documentation for this story.Cicero and Margaret were married in Burlington, Iowa and not in St. Louis. I have a copy of their marriage record.

Harriet S. Baquet (b. about 1846 – d. 1905) was instrumental in providing a church on Orr’s Island in the state of Maine. Harriet was the daughter of Camille and Harriet Stuart Lord Baquet. She is found several times within the Census of Burlington New Jersey before moving to Orr's Island, Maine. She had at least one marriage, however, returned to her maiden name of Baquet before her death. There is a picture of the chapel and an article at the following address which indates her involvement in the formation of the church:

http://www.diomaine.org/orrs.htm

If anyone has additional information concerning the above individual... I would love to talk with them!!! I am always happy to share any information and will assist in researching any prospective links to this Baquet family.
Thanks in advance,
deb-

AUGUSTE BAQUIE (ACCENT OVER THE "E") CAME FROM PARIS, FRANCE, MOVED TO GUADALUPE OR MARTINIQUE IN THE CARRIBBEAN ISLANDS, THAN MOVED TO NEW ORLEANS WHERE HE DIED. HE MARRIED BUT HAD NO CHILDREN OF THAT UNION, BUT HE HAD ABOUT FIVE (5) SONS FOR A THEODORINE TUREAUD(CREOLE OR MULATTO WOMAN FREE WOMAN OF COLOR)
CICERO MARRIED A MARGARET WICKLESS AND MOVED TO PUTNAM, MISSOURI. SO ALL THE RELATIVES ARE THERE. I JUST READ ABOUT THEM.
THEOGENE IS OF GREAT INTEREST TO ME AS I KNOW I DESCEND FROM THAT LINE FOR SURE. MY YOUNGER SISTER, STEPHANIE BAQUET-KROODSMA, HAS EMAILED YOU BEFORE, SHE LIVES IN HOLLAND. I LIVE IN U.S. IN CALIFORNIA.
I SPENT SEVERAL MONTHS IN NEW ORLEANS, LA. WHERE I WAS BORNED AND LIVED FOR 34 YEARS. I MANAGED TO BACK THERE EVERY YEAR. I FOUND A LOT OF INFO THERE IN THE LIBRARY ON THE BAQUET'S WHO LIVED THERE IN THE 1800'S THRU CENSUS RECORDS. FOR SURE MYRTILE OR MEUTILE BAQUIE AND ADELAIDE WERE MARRIED AND HAD SEVERAL CHILDREN. MY GRANDFATHER AND THEOGENE ARE BLOOD RELATIVES. BUT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHO WERE MEUTILE'S PARENTS AND WERE THEY FROM FRANCE OR THE WEST INDIES. WHAT WAS THEIR NATIONALITY? AS I AM MIXED BLOOD BUT DO NOT KNOW OF WHAT EXACTLY. SINCE FOR MANY YEARS IN NEW ORLEANS THE GOVERNMENT SAID WE HAD TO BE COLORED RACE. MAYBE SOME NATIVE AMERICAN BLOOD. AS MY FEATURES ARE NOT NEGROID.
I KNOW THAT THEOGENE DIED OUT HERE IN SANTA MONICA CALIFORNIA, IN THE 1920'S. HE LEFT NEW ORLEANS WITH THE YOUNGEST CHILD TO LIVE OUT HERE. THERE IS A LOT MORE INFORMATION I COULD SHARE WITH YOU AS I HAVE PERSONALLY SPOKEN TO THE THEOGENE'S DESENDANTS BOTH HERE AND IN NEW ORLEANS.
DO YOU THINK CICERO AND THEOGENE ARE RELATED?
THEOGENE'S DEATH CERTIFICATE LISTS THAT HE WAS BORN IN PARIS, FRANCE. ALSO, AT LEAST 2 OF HIS SONS WERE VERY TALENTED MUSICIANS.( I HAVE MORE ON THAT ALSO.)
HOPE TO TALK TO YOU SOON AND WOULD LOVE TO VISIT YOU IN FRANCE.
HOPE WE ARE RELATED IN SOME WAY.
ALWAYS,
DIANNE
